think it would be a good idea to up the weight of the deadlift.

most peaople competing in open weight SM will be able to rep 160kg deadlift for the full 75 seconds without stopping.

this means it will probably be won by whoevers ref gives the quickest 'good lift' signal at lock out.

A novice is a person who is new to a field or activity

not someone who has been competing for years above there level.

The weights are the weights. I didnt think people would kick up such a fuss about a fun charity comp. I know some people will be able to rep 160 easy, as i can myself, but there is also several people who cant. Iceman is welcome to take part in the comp, as it would be good to have a few strong lads competing aswell. End of.

Cheers, sam

It wasn't meant as a dig at iceman, now reading it back I can see that's how it sounds. Mark has been no repping every event (except tyre) for well as long as I've been competing so he clearly isn't open standard and should be allowed to do novice comps imo

Just had an email off Worlds Strongest Man competitor "Laurence Shahlaei" confirming that he is still free to attend the competition as a guest referee, and also sign autographs and have pictures taken. I am also in talks with another worlds strongest man competitor who should be attending!

I doubt he'll want to do anything in the comp itself, but he'll be there to attract the peeps. I am bringing a massive tire down though and challenging people to flip it, £1 a go. I cant even move it an inch off the ground so maybe ill see how loz manages it Wink

Unfortuantly I think we are going to have to change the truck pull to a hand over hand van pull up hill. As a few of us went down to the rugby club today where the event is being held and there was no ground level enough to pull on. The waggon was either rolling down hill or rolling backwards up hill. It wont effect the competition, its just a slight alteration. Wink

Ran a couple tests with the van pull yesterday, went well. The pull on the day will be harder than this. More uphill and weight added to the van if needed.
