Advised that I look up at the ceiling when I start the deadlift, and this will keep me driving backwards, rather than trying to pull up. I tried this with the lighter deadlifts and found they came up quicker and easier. Tried to do this with the heavier deads but found that I slipped back to my old form of looking straight ahead and pulling with my back... Will definately be encorporating this into my deadlifting though from now on (my shins are torn to peices mind.....!!)

Member 424, 532 posts SQ 190, BP 145, DL 220555.0 kgs @ 103kgs UnEq | Press day.... My gym kindly shut for the bank holiday, but annual members were given use of the local sports centre gym for this period. First time in a commercial gym for a long time. Went in, asked where I could clean and press, the staff said "over there on the mats" - so off I went. Completed first work set and they asked me to stop as "there is a bowling alley below and you cant drop weights on the floor like that...". I explaned that you cant "gently" put down a 100kg clean and press between each rep, and I think I am right in saying that even the most seasoned of oly/powerlifters dont "put" the bar down after a lift, they just drop it.... Anyway, that killed the session a bit... but here are the numbers... Clean and press 60kg x 10 80x3 100x6 (PB reps) - well, I did 5, stopped, undid my belt then thought, actuall I have got at least one more in there, so I grabbed the bar (maybe 20 second pause) and did the 6th one - went up easy..... (Note - feel really strong in the press - just cant breathe after, say, number 4...) Then got told off so had to stop there... Snatch 60x5 70x5 80x5 (told off yet again for letting the bar fall.....!!!) Bench press - for speed against resistance bands(green number 4 bands) +20kg x5 +40x5 +60x5 +60x5 +60x5 One drop set +60x3, +40x4, +20x6, Bands only x10 (Feel like these are helping me improve my speed and technique already, feel like I am pressing more like proper technique, arms in closer to my sides, paused at bottom, speed off the chest...) One arm Dumbell press 30kg x1 each side 40kg x1 each side 50kg x 1 each side (couldnt go heavier because these were the heaviest dumbells in the gym - though I took great pleasure in asking them if they had anything heavier...!!) 50kgx 3 each side. Seated Overhead press using green woody bands only (I put these round my leg, sit down and put my hand in the loop then try to straighten out overhead - you have to be quick to get your arm locked in order to beat the band) 4 sets of 10reps Feeling very confident for the overhead press for my comp next week. I know that the axle is a bit different, and hopefully will get chance to do a bit of axle practice before I stop training (will probably call Tuesday my last days training before the comp). Hope to get six on the day within the 75 secs but I know the heat and the lack of fitness/breathing is going to kill me.... As for the other events, will just have to do my best - not been possible to get to events training any where near as much as I hoped. so will be going in with no experience for the medley and the fingals. Still, will give it everything I have...

Cheers Small, I will de-pad now my period is over! I feel like I am dropping as far as I can, even on the lighter weights my depth is the same - but I will strive to get down further, maybe I need to lose the knee wraps..? Thanks for the feedback!
