note from the new coan philippi program, my legs (hamstrings) are aching still now four days later!!! Obviously really working these!!

Anyway,
yesterday was pressing.

Not a great day as just felt slow and tired, fitting in quick workout between finishing day job at 4pm and starting evening job at 5pm!!

Push press
60x6
100x3
100x3

One hand db press
35x1 each side
45x1 e/s
55x1 e/s
60xf, f, f

50kg one arm press each rep from floor in 60 sec
8reps
8reps
7 reps

No problem with the pressing, could do another 5 reps!! just getting as quick as poss from floor to press, then will move up to 55kg. Ideally will get 10 reps at 55kg in 60 seconds!!

Seated Arnold presses
15kg db's (slow negative, really speedy presses)
x10
x10
x10

front plate hold 10kg for 3 sets of 30 secs

thats it...!

Disappointed about missing the 60kg as I normally get that pretty easy, but just didnt feel it today. Pleased with the sets of 60sec presses - sweating like a mo-fo after these!!!

Friday squats

60kgx10
100x5 - hamstrings still very very sore after new deadlift programme....shaking all over the place
stopped, did 10mins on bike, 20 mins stretching
60kgx10
100x5
100x5
60x10

Just couldnt do anyweight due to hamtring soreness!!..
10 more mins on bike...

Gutted at a bad session at first, but then thought the reason my hamstrings are killing me is because I am working them harder than I have done for a long while. Prepared to let the squats suffer for a few weeks if my legs end up stronger and my strength improves....

second week of coan philippi deadlift programme....

Warmup - 70x6, 110x4,150x3

Deadlift (80%): 1set of 2reps @ 185 kg

Speed deadlift (65%): 8sets x3reps @ 150 kg (90 sec rest b/w sets)

3 circuits (rest 90sec between exercises, 2-3 minutes between circuits):
Stiff-leg deadlift: 8 reps
Bent over row: 8 reps
Underhand (reverse) grip lat pulldown: 8 reps
Arched back good morning: 8 reps

On about the second set of speed deadlifts my back went into spasm. Cleverley, I didnt stop. On about the fourth set my left shoulder popped. Cleverley, I didnt stop.

Woke up this morning, cant raise my left arm above my head and taking about 30-40 seconds to straighten from sitting to standing.

Stinking of deep heat, which is burning my skin, walking like an old man and dropping pain killers to fight of the very sore lower back, burning skin and dislocated (probably not really dislocated but certainly very uncomfortable) shoulder.

I love strongman training.....Wink

Saw physio yesterday - have now relieved that strain in my wallet!!Unhappy

Anyway, she said, in technical terms, I have f**ked my shoulder. She battered it for ages and ran electrical currents through it, hot stoned it, beat it, pulled it and bruised it. It feels a bit better but I have apparantly pulled a ligament, which in turn is "forcing the socket" - (which is why it crunches so loud apparently). She seems to think that it will heal up but might take a few weeks.....!

Anyway, I am safe to squat etc, but no deadlifting and only very light pressing until it gets better Angry Angry Angry

Seeing her again next week, if its better then she said I will be able to return to training shoulders over the coming weeks...

On a brighter note, went to Strength-tec today to see the mighty Mr Frampton. Set the events and classes for CHASE comp. I was delighted that we picked weights and events that exceed my personal bests in almost every area.

I will have to do a 250kg+ deadlift for reps (current deadlift, 200, best ever 220.....!!). A 220squat (my best ever is 180) and a 60kg monster dumbell, which is equal to my gym best one hand press.....

Its going to be a looooooonnnnnnggggggg painful few months. At least my elbow, back and shoulder are ruined....and my back hurts.....and I have gas..!Eek
