If i could choose to be strong in any 3 lifts, they would be up there i think Grin

Monday

Deadlift
70 x 8
120 x 8
170 x 8
220 x 8
250 x 4

Chins x 3
DB Row x 3
Machine pulldown x 3
Machine Row x 2

Called it quits after 4 tough reps with 250. Ironback not feeling quite so iron.

i agree - beautiful combo.

You also do narrow grips from time to time which i think is important. My overhead went to s**t when i only did overhead and left the heavy narrow grips out. My plan after nailing a new PB on bench is to just do overhead + heavy narrows, maybe on boards to keep that overload in pressing.

255 x 5 should give you a nice round 300 single.

Yeah i try to do some narrow grips once a week if i can, that sounds like a good plan i've read that some strongmen swear by close grips as assistance for a big log press which is obviously what your after!

Tony yeah i plugged that 255x5 into some 1RM calculators and they came close to 300. After todays session im not so sure though!

In my experience. Close Grips are the single best pressing exercise for all other presses. If you get stronger at them every other press will go up. I love them.

Grin Visited the dungeon today with Joni and Hayden and obviously Millsy!

Well everything was so much harder than i was expecting, i can appreciate just how gruelling strongman is now i've tried a few things!

Started with the log
70 x 3,3,3
80 x 1 failed 2nd
70 x 3 x a couple more
75 x3

Got better as i went along, some reps were better than others when my technique was better.

Farmers Walk
70 x 40 (a couple of drops)
100 x a few meters (cant remember but couple of drops once again!)
110 x a few meters to bring farmers back
120 x another few meters!

f**k these were hard, legs went to jelly at times but grip wasnt as much of a problem as i expected.

Stones
105 x f,f,f,f,f
Angry i think it was the 3rd i got close to getting up. Again a lot harder than i could of expected and forearms in agony by the end!

Axle Holds
80 x a few seconds x 3 or 4 sets
Grip did me no favours here, my small hands made this tough!

So i wasnt very good at anything really, but i really enjoyed it and i will be back to load that mother f**king stone!

hey great work today davo, exellent debut!

Strongman is pretty brutal in a sense that it really highlights your weaknesses but then again you do progress quite fast if you just nail these sessions on a regular basis.

Good work on the log, that technique looked solid.
