Right, let the trash talking begin. Haydens dieting down to the 90s for a head to head with me for this one.

I like the idea of a seperate competition for the unequipped bench, will get back on the platform at this one!!

Could we see a debut from Boar or Rick maybe?

Let's hope we get a good turn out for this. It's a new event, and it's future depends on how many people support it. I see lots of guys posting about not liking equipped lifting, so here's a chance to lift unequipped, qualify for the British Raw, and post some official numbers.

Bench is often a good gateway into powerlifting, and new lifters generally lift unequipped, so let's get everyone who has ever talked about competing but moans about their squat and/or deadlift and/or equipment on stage for this one! If half a dozen enter, it'll be a one-off. Let's get 30 or 40 of you on stage and make it a highlight of the year.

And remember, each winner will be the first ever winner of the NW Raw Bench, something that every winner can be rightly proud of. And if it bombs, you'll be the reigning champs for eternity!

Here are the unequipped bench qualifying totals out of interest:

I would need 100 @ 90 (u23), Hayden you would need 110 @ 125 (u20). Would be nice to qualify for a national competition.

Boar 125@90 or 110@82.5 - you'd piss that.

Rick you would need 195 @ 125+ - look forward to seeing that. Surely that must be a typo?

The qualifiers seem easier relatively speaking than the qualifiers for full power comps.

using rick-like mathematical formula , it should be 165 @ 125+

if i hit 82.5 befor i decide to quit the diet i dont think i could sustain it off the diet and training hard, so i would have some room to grow into the 90kg cat

If it's not, it'd be worth dieting to 125 to save 40kg from the total...

Just six training weeks after Christmas? And then about ten after it for the NW full power, if what I hear about likely dates is right? Not sure about that.

Let's not get too naggy. He appears to be thinking about it, and that's a great leap forwards.Wink There's really nowhere else in the calendar for it to go when you take account of the NW events and the national ones, and the fact that it has to be several weeks before the Raw British Bench if it's to be a qualifier. So take it or leave it guys, but that's the only realistic slot for it.

I think it's a good slot, especially if there would otherwise be no comps for months around that time. It's not like a bench comp takes a lot out of you or requires a massive build up like a three lift, so all the more reason to just turn up and a have a bash.

It would get you out of doing the loading too!
If we can get some newcomers to have taste of competition then they might have a go at the full 3 lift unequipped on April 6th at Rhinos again.
Ive just sent Rob the full calender of events for this year so it should be on the site soon.
We just need to confirm a Lancs vs Yorks event date with our friends across the pennines and that will be 6 North west events this year!
If we are to have good attendances at these events it requires everyones support.
THAT MEANS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can get out of the loading any time I want just by saying "no", though. It's not like we don't pay to get in like everyone else anyway, and it's hard for anybody else here to nag me since so few of them ever do it...
