I was wondering how long u guys rest before a competition or do you train right up to the day? I was thinking of having an events day on the Sunday then nothing till comp on following Saturday, what do you think? | ||

As for myself, i used to do jack all from the weekend before, but goin in to sunday i found myslef getting bored and did two conditioning sessions, one on tuesday and thursday. Nothing heavy at all, although tuesday was a Prowler Sprint session, it was over in under 20min but I was in bits! im gona go through a the next 5 weeks with another 2 comps, so this week i plan 2 get get bk in the gym from wed/thursday till tuesday of next week but itsmore about maintainance for me now ! | ||

The standards was the best i have ever seen it, so i think the future for welsh strongman looks promising. I am really gutted that i had to with draw from the comp but with a pole hitting me on my head it was nothing i could do. Vision blurred and legs turned to jelly the 140kg farmers wouldnt go a meter. | ||

Member 841, 31 posts SQ 280, BP 200, DL 310790.0 kgs @ 108kgs UnEq | i hope i can put up a bit more of a fight against ryan and simon at the welsh qualifier for the strongman of the north! i was happy with my performance the weekend considering i was weighing at 105kgs, id did 1 rep with the 400 deadlift i think i could have did one more if i didnt rush, tractor pull i had a nightmare, i thoughrt i did 5 reps with the log but was given 4 for some reason, i compleated th yoke well happy with that, compleated the 145kg farmers and finished the tyre off, did the 155kg stone bit slow but the stone was spinning because of lack of taky. | ||

 Member 1381, 1240 posts SQ 280, BP 165, DL 317.5762.5 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | Well apart from loosing my bas***d phone,i had an amazng day.This is the start of good things for the sport of strongman in wales,and the forming of the WSMA (welsh strongman association) will now take the sport from strength to strength in the principality of wales........... Was really pleased with every aspect of the entire comp loaders,ref,competitors,spectators,staff at the marina,tudor on the mic,st johns and even the local police,And a special shout out to Rob Bush who helped me sort so much of the comp out.People were congratulating me on running such a good day and how smooth it ran,but i simply put the machine together and everyone else ran it......But i was very proud of everyone that took part. This comp at one point nearly didnt even happen due to alot of negativity in and around the sport of strongman in wales.... well sunday marked a new era in welsh strongman and we are here to be seen and heard..... keep your eyes out for the new WSMA web site and forum | ||

That negativity was justified. Perhaps you can learn from this experience, and as you said move Welsh Strongman forward. | ||
