Hiya,
Any feedback and advice will be appriciated.
I have been training for strongman for roughly five months now, started at the Basement, but now mainly train at Ironworx in Swindon.

Stats.
18y/o
90kg
5,11"


I plan on doing the Southern qualifiers for the Under 105's next year.
All my lifts are going up nicely enough now, so i cant complain with my training.

Had a cracking events session today at ironworx,

Log
105kg PB got it on the third attempt

cleaned 110, but failed to clean 115, had done too much before this.

Yoke.
probably my worst event, got 260 for 15m. felt horrible.

Stones
90kg to 150cm, 110 to 120cm, 120 to 90cm 15sec

130 stones to 90cm platform PB

ive never been good at stones but today they felt alot better, because i wasnt sitting down and stopping when lapping them, but using the momentum off the floor.
alot easier


very happy with my 2 PBs today.

very nice log mate and kudos on the stones !! them f**kers arent easy at the best of times ...whats 90cm in feet ? probably about 3 or so ? might be wise to practise on 4 feet ,which you probably do and i didnt read it properly !

im not good with measurements.
i think the lowest platform, which i guessed 90cm, around 4 foot ish?
highest is 5ish foot


Edit: its the inside platforms at ironworxs in swindon, i think in your journal you said you trained their?

Back squats

Bar x 5
60 x 5
100 x 2
145 x 1 belt only
160 x 1 belt and wraps
172.5 x f belt and wraps so close to happening, just stopped about 2" above paralell

Front squats

80 x 2 pause reps
90 x 1 pause rep
100 x 1 pause rep
105 x 1 pause rep

Single leg, leg press

50 5x5 each leg. first time i have done this, my knees arnt feeling too strong so thought i would give it ago to strengthen them. felt quite good.

Hanging leg raises
13 x 1


gutted about failing 172.5 because i know 170 would have gone up nicely. but apart from that it was a good session, it was my first time going heavy with front squats and they felt very good.

By the time of the southern qualifiers my aims are:
Deadlift 250
Log 120
Stones 155 (will need to have!)
Yoke 320 ( any advice on improving my core for this, feels like my spine is being crushed even with 200???)
farmers 150



and by the end of next year i want a 300 deadlift (high hopes, but i will try)


cant think of any others right now, these are the main ones though.

the lowest platform both outside and inside are 110cm or 44" george so your better than you thought.

Stones 155 (will need to have!)


You wont need to load a 155 stone to do real well in u90 strongman, trust me

felt very good today, even with failing to of my lifts.

Just a few Runs up and down the garden with a keg (100gk ish) to get my heart going.
not too many as im deadlifting tomorow.

210kg for three!! hopefuly
deadlifts felt great last week with 8 doubles with 190 so im really looking forward to tomorow

210 x 2 tried for three but my back didnt feel strong at all today.


low pick up deadlift, working on speed
110 for 8 doubles
these felt really good, first time i have tried them, definatly keep doing them.


Power cleans, just working on technique today.
60 2 sets of 5
70 1 set of 5
technique felt solid today.


finished off with abit of pinch and some hanging leg raises.


all in all a good work out.
