I was curious about the Hawksmoor book. The key to that place seems to me to be perfect ingredients and careful cooking, sometimes with specialist equipment (the Josper grills, in particular, but also things like being able to cook fries in dripping readily), so I was never sure I'd get much from the book. Stunning place to eat, though, I love the Manchester branch (so good Fat Pete will actually go to Manchester for it Happy).

If you are interested in Chinese home cooking, buy "Every Grain of Rice" by Fuchsia Dunlop. It's the only book you need, and it's glorious. "Chinese cooking de-mystified" on YouTube is also excellent and well worth a subscribe.

I’ve got both the Hawksmoor books, and you’re right. It’s main focus is on quality produce cooked really well. It’s such an easy and simple way of cooking that I truly love, which is why I love going to eat there. The restaurant Blacklock funnily enough is much the same, if not even more simple.

Turners books Hog and Prime offer a far greater diversity in recipes but with the same cooking approach. They’re very good and in my cooking bible section.

They were pretty influential in my journey into starting up my catering business.

I’ll check out that book thanks Rick.

Lovely.

Last night was a bag oh nachos and some leftover chilli... Trying to be more frugal and not wasting leftovers etc. It tasted superb but gave me terrible wind.

Tonight I have a desire to get some pork chops!

Love a chop.

Nanban chicken (floured, fried crisp, and soaked in soy and swret vinegar) with the traditional tartare sauce of hard-boiled egg, picked cucumber, Japanese mashup and lemon; fried potatoes, since the oil was there; and spring greens for HEALTH.

Lunch, fish sauce noodles with fried shiitake, radish in chilli oil on the side.

Dinner, crispy chilli halloumi in soft tacos with peppers, chilli, Kewpie, coriander and lime. Bloody hell that's good.

Roast dinner tonight at the parents... I forget just how bloated I get when I consume so much veg.

My mum overcooks most of her veg and meat, but it’s what I grew up eating so i do have a special place in my heart for it.

Chicken gong bao; mangetout with wind-dried sausage; wok soup; rice. Not my best day at the stove, but still pretty good.

Should I be eating this? Who cares, when it's as good as Poseidon's do. Brought out to the car with wireless/contactless payment, too.

Went to a fancy italian place and thought they would be stingy with the portions, so i asked them to make the pizza base a little thicker than normal. 3 bites away from finishing it all, but they thought it was for two to share. Amateurs.
Chicken, bbq sauce, olives, tomatoes, probably some other stuff that I forgot.

Managed to get some pork over from the Greek side and had a bbq - pork chops, lamb chops, chicken shish, salad, skin-on chips.

Last night it was aubergines sauteed with onions, garlic, tomatoes, for a total cost of zero.

Those sausages look at least 20% "meat substance"
