Has any grip guys out there tracked what they could DOH in relation to what COC # they could close on both hand?
Wondering how close or even if there was a measurable correlation.
And assuming that back strength wouldn't be an issue.

the correlation is minimal. e.g. supporting v crushing. in fact when we do fat grip farmers at conditioning
i'm s**te compared to others at the gym that i'm destroying DOHG on a DL bar... so even supporting itself is incredibly variable based on hand size, strength at specific finger angles, how much thumb pressure you can get.

lot of grip specialists with huge gripper (#3 #3.5 etc) prowess are not particularly strong at full body lifts.
makes sense as grip is ultimately muscles and nervous system of the forearms and below

A few of us had a wee play about in the gym to see what we could DOH, as i do a lot of rack pulls for deadlift grip training and on a good day can hold onto 340 for 5-10 sec, i thought 200 should be quite doable :-) how wrong i was, Cue DOH, 170 Just....175 no chance....... so im less than half of my reverse grip,
The upper forearms is what you feel loading up and stopping the bar being able to roll your fingers open, better strength here seems to be the key. I have probably never directly trained it for years, so will, and see if my DOH changes much over the next few mths.
Incidentally The guy who had the best grip pulled 190 at about 83kg and also does a fair bit of climbing.

Had a crack at 240 with chalk tonight. It was a decent start, but thoughts of Lord Purple must have stopped me from finishing the lift:

Maybe next week!

That was great well done!
I think that on axle, thumb strength is the decider on grip. On the COC though it seems to have a much smaller role.

Came really close with 145kg on axle the other day, setting the goal of 160kg this year
