Power meter for me , but plenty of time to save.

enjoyed the recent trainer road podcast , makes you realise the watts that can be saved just by getting the best tyres

£474.99 is for the single sided version - the lowest I've seen for the twin sided is just under £750

I'd like the option of being able to change the crank length which obviously narrows the choice on power meters.

Good luck with the mortgage - the advantage of getting older is hopefully you no longer have to worry about mortgages - unfortunately it's about the only advantage!

I'll be 68 when (if) this f**king thing is paid off.

Got the deposit sorted. It's now just a question of persuading the bank to actually cough up the money. While I understand, I find it bizarre that mortgage repayments considerably lower than the rent you've been paying for four years might not be affordable....

well that's encouraging $$$$ wise if/when you are given the mortgage, will you be buying a new gaff ?

we had paid off our mortgage but went and borrowed some more for the extention when little baby emma made a surprise appearance

I will be only able to get the single pedal, unless I fins something worth a few bob to sell , but I'm sure it will be ok , or a bargain may be had when I'm ready to buy next year

I think its great Sam , I enjoy the workouts and actually look forward to the races (the ones under an hour seem to suit me best at the moment)

over the next couple of years zwift will improve ten fold and so will my speed

mind you, you have a much more mega commute than me, which means less inclination to jump on the trainer in the shed

Repeated Ant+ drop outs tonight. Not happy. Can't figure if it's Zwift, the laptop, Stages or the Ant+ stick.

Garmins?

Anyone got a newer Garmin with Bluetooth? After a lot of googling I still can't workout what it does. I guess I'm asking the wrong question. Am I right in understanding that whilst they have Bluetooth you can't connect to Bluetooth sensors?

The Bluetooth is to connect to your phone, no?

I'd like to be able to connect to the power meter, not just the phone. When I look for how to do this I can't find any instructions so I'm thinking maybe it only connects to a phone?

Yeah managed to get the morning off work so gave it a crack. Went in cold which made the first 10 minutes tough but I enjoyed it. Gradually caught and passed a fair few people after getting dropped before the bloody climb. I much prefer climbing to flat riding.

There's some mad people in those races though. People were repeatedly attacking me on the climb and then finishing minutes behind. Flying on the flat then sinking on the climbs etc.

I'm starting to think of a plan to get the FTP up to 350. I'm
Thinking April might be my target.
