i went for the 1.5 2.0 2.5 as its a birthday present from the misses and i can buy the 1.0 seperately.
Ive been doing plate pinchs with the flat side of chrome ivankos i can do 2x15kg plates. and axle i dont know, but i am blessed with huge hands so was always able to grip axles pretty decent.

I got a '1' as a gift and couldn't close it. It wasn't too long before i could go 10+ reps with each hand though.

I skipped the 1.5 and went straight to 2.

Can do about 1 rep left hand and a couple right hand with it. Despite creating a journal solely for it, I've heavily neglected it recently. Still aim to close a 3 before I die.

I have the trainer for warming up with and it's ace to rep out with and warm up the fingers even if I don't train grip all that much.

Agree, overhand axle deads and holds are great for grip

Plate pinches and plate flips are great too

Just picking weights up and using a pinch grip works, you soon stop thinking about how to pick stuff up and just pick it up!

Ironmind eagle loops are fun Wink

My hands are about the right size for me at 6ft 4, I can just overlap my finger tips on the axle... Nowhere near Mark Felix size hands lol

Plate flips are great, just mind the toes! I regularly do them after deads, 15, 20 and 25kg plates but grips usually shot by then!

I also try and do some one handed hangs off the crossover frames at the gym... Could only do a few seconds but building up now! I'm 22 stone, I can't hang around too long haha

Haven't got access to a rolling thunder, but do have a loadable axle size dumbbell handle and do holds with that. Also do one handed axle deads, that smashes the grip too!

Grippers arrived today.
Had a quick play could close the 1.5 10 times right and 8 times left. closed the 2.0 with my right but still had 5-10mm left on my left. 2.5 got to about 10/15mm in right. didnt bother with left.
Im pretty pleased with the result.

Thats good going from the off!

You can soon burn out on them and overtrain them as well IMO

Best to mix them up and train them once a week maybe; some sets of just closes and some sets of them closed and held for as long as possible; I found that way really helped me get stronger on them!

The rule is that you're able to take the slack out of them to the width of a credit card and then you close it from there (that's the official line IIRC); may have changed though, so may need looking up if you're interested!

thanks bro i was suprised i was able to close the #2 tbh.
I can see how it would be easy to over do it my forearms hurt already lol.
i plan on doing plate pinchs and rolling thunder.
Way i see it,having an epic grip is one less thing to worry about come the big day of the comp!

Deffo!

Plus pulling everything with just fingers and working to a full OH grip also smashes the grip training and provides that all-loving tingly feeling in your forearms (basically you can't grip for s**t) lol Grin
