On the second rep at 162.5 I felt the pain I've been getting in my left lower back - I'm thinking now that I have a little strain/tear. I dropped to 140 but could still feel it, however I couldn't feel it at all at 100 so did a few sets at that. | ||

The last rep of work set 3 was a grind, so I dropped the weight for the last couple of sets. | ||

I'll probably test max on squat (if back OK) and bench next week, and then focus on deads for a cycle to try and bring that up. I went to London and back today, which wasn't the best prep. I didn't feel the pain in my back until I racked the second work set - it wasn't bad, but I left it there. | ||

Wasn't expecting too much as I've had a couple of enforced lighter weeks, but it turned out I haven't lost much strength. Started to feel my left lower back a little from racking the 170 onwards, but nothing major until I racked the 185 - at that point it seized up, so I had to stop. The 180 was very smooth, and 185 didn't stick anywhere, so I think I would have got 190 (I would have attempted it at least). Whatever it's a big PB so I'm happy. | ||

Decided to get the Eleiko out (have never benched with it before), looking for anything to spur me on. I'd intended working up in 5Kg increments from 125, but that seemed like a lot of lifts so I adjusted that a bit. 145 went us smoothly - decided to go for 147.5 and then 150 if I got that (as I thought I'd definitely get 147.5). Also decided I would only video if I went for 150. Got the 147.5 for a new PB, failed the 150 (arse came up too) - so all I have on video is the fail. Can't really be disappointed though with a 7.5Kg PB. | ||

Member 5095, 783 posts SQ 200, BP 162.5, DL 220582.5 kgs @ 119kgs UnEq | Tue 2 Jun - Deadlift DOH 60 x 3 60 x 3 80 x 3 Belt 100 x 3 120 x 3 140 x 1 160 x 1 Straps 170 x 1 Was attempting max testing on deads today, wanted to see where I'm at so I can start a deadlift specialisation cycle (also interested if there was any carry over from my squat improvements). On the 170 my left lower back cramped up again. Each time it's in a slightly different place, and only kicks in when I get to weights that are heavy for me. Will have to think through what to do next - the deads cycle starts fairly light but frequent, which will obviously stress my back. | ||

The work sets were surprisingly hard, and legs are sore already. Back didn't play up, but could feel it at the end - have a physio appt on Thu, hopefully they'll be able to work out what's wrong. | ||

First work set felt heavy, but rest were much better. Have been working on shoulder flexibility a bit more, so they were sore for today's session. | ||

I found getting to the bottom of my squat easier this week. Added a little weight to work sets, but kept it moderate. Back was OK, it was a little sore at the end but not bad. | ||

Had physio again today (for back), so though best not to squat today. Decided to work up a little on bench - realised as I got to the top set I was making my back work, so decided to stop there. | ||

All sets felt easy enough. Started losing bar down back on last set which almost caused a problem on the last rep - lower back reminded me it was still sore on that one. | ||
