Good morning Sugden Members!

My name is Phil and welcome to my training journal. Within here you will see lots of frequent sessions of varied intensities. I have started this long overdue Training Log to help me get more out of my workouts and help me get closer to my fitness goals.

My goal is to be lean, strong, fit and flexible. Due to that fact my training doesn't follow any singular theme... Currently at least. However I am hoping to consolidate and further develop the thread of commonality within my exercise program.

I work in the Health and Fitness industry and train most days as part of my commitment to myself and my clients. I weigh one hundred kilos and would like to weigh ninety five and a half within six months. I have no sporting events scheduled currently and am going away for the weekend tomorrow but for now at this moment I am happy to at last begin this journal

Be nice!

Friday 14th August

I go on the exercise bike most days... I like it, my joints like it and it works.

Watt Bike

30 minutes, average watts @ 200 (90% best)

After that little bit of am cardio I had to go to the hospital for a scan which I will get the results of in two weeks

Energy levels are okay and I'm not in too much pain

What was the scan for Phil?

Any plans to compete in weightlifting?

Watt Bike

30 minutes @ avrg 198W

Anything over 175W is fine at this point... I just got stuck in this evening

Avrg speed was 22.8mph and 11.44 miles covered

Edit: 446 kcals too

I had funny pains in my legs, hips and back when warming up which quickly went... I think that I picked up some niggles during the course if a busy day

This one was on the lumbar/sacrum Sparrow

I've had a few... This one was in a little mobile unit and was a bit warm.

I fell asleep and for the first time was at all even slightly worried unlike the first time I went in one when it was unnerving to say the least!

I could compete in weightlifting if I can buy a bar to snatch on... I think anyway. My technique is consistent

Hope the back's OK.

So you've done weightlifting before then?

Watt bikes are the king of cycle ergs!

It is what it is mate I have come to realise that. Also I have a morphine like patch which helps a lot with the chronic pain. I did compete when I was younger yeah but if I'm honest I like the idea of training for a competition more than I do the competition if that makes sense. I also love the idea of the death by deadlift and now that I have sat down for a brew I have remembered I forgot to try it earlier! Unhappy

I will have to wait until Monday now which is a shame... Also it am maaaaybe liking the idea at some point of doing a watered down Russian squat routine depending on if I think it will help me get to where I want up be

That single front squat today smashed my quads and it shouldn't felt so heavy either lol

Oh yeah the Watt Bike

They're brilliant and don't even know that much about them Grin

What I use them for however I do find extremely beneficial which is why I use them literally every day

I know what you mean about the training for a comp, Phil. Pushes on your training like nothing else.

150 front squat is good!

The Russian Masters is a decent, watered-down version of the RSR.

Joni used to love the Wattbike - he won the peak power output every year at the Uni he used to work at.

I train in the gym where I work and other satellite gyms within the brand Andy... Hopefully it won't be an age until I can move as well as you

Lol the squat was better than I thought it was going to be in reality and will get better when I lose some weight off my shoulders and arms in the next few months

I have considered the russian masters version as I am almost a master now lol but alas I would definitely rather do the rsr with less poundage

I'm an old dog and I have a system that works so I will bear that in mind when I want to spend six weeks squatting which is quite some time away anyway as I would like to try to move well and consolidate and develop a productive pattern of exercise

In that sense so far this journal I feel will definately work
