Went to buy my kids a computer yesterday but left f**king confused .
Last time i went on one it was a Spectrum +3 .
My lads are 7 and 6 and just want to play games .. I got a Wii for them but you need too much room to use it and their bedroom isn't massive ..
So help me out

mark it depends how keen they are to have the newest games you see on tv.
ps4 is the best one out of those BUT it costs an arm and a leg. it's also brand new so there isnt many games to choose from.
ps3 is a good option. its not that expensive anymore and there are years and years of really good games. plus they still making some games for it.

I was thinking that to be fair .. We got a PS 2 the other month for £40 and bought about 15 games for less than £100 .. All second hand etc but saved a fortune . I think I'll do same with PS 3 mate ..

I'm an Xbox 360 guy. Bought my current 360 (had one previous) on the release of the xboxone, from a mate so the price was crazy low. They are still releasing games and content to them, and will be for a few years (by then next will be cheaper) and the content is great (online, iplayer etc and really easy to set up parental timers/restrictions etc, as they are only young) Plus games are backdatable, so you can play xbox original games on them too.
Pretty much the same for PS3, except i don't think PS2 games are compatible, but online play (not an issue at that age??) is free on PS3.
All in all graphics, game availability between PS3 and Xbox360 is on par, but for cost, definitely xbox360!

xbox 360 and ps3 both as good really. i prefer the xbox as its more user friendly and im more familiar with it. the ps3 however is free online where as xbox is about £40 a year.

Been playing Zombie shoot em ups with a wireless gun and streetfighter and mortal kombat on the ps3. Awesome!

New generation ps4 or xbox one
More reasonable priced:
PS3 and xbox 360, can pick second hand games up pretty cheap. Note that new games will not be produced on these consoles.
To be fair it is down to what you want, for longevity and perhaps save money in the long run get the ps4 or xbox 1.
