| Wayne_Cowdrey | Doing the whole stack | 30-01-2014 @ 11:09 | |
Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22644 posts | Yesterday I repped the f**k (well, 10) out of the whole stack on a shoulder press machine, just for a laugh. Then I watched a guy making less than half the stack look heavy. Shoulder and chest press machines always seem easy to stack and are clearly designed for narrowbacks. Leg curl machines are a different story though and the whole stack seems unrealistic. Has anyone stacked one of these? Do I have narrowback hamstrings?

Well yes they have would be the obvious answer but really depends on how heavy the stack is. Each gym is different.

hermit Member 3904, 988 posts | Post Edited: 30.01.2014 @ 11:25 AM by herman Id get nowhere with a shoulder press machine as they particularly f**k up my already f**ked shoulders. I can do the stack on any kind of row/pulldown machine though. If you want a real challenge, try plate loaded leg curl/extension machines. Stupidly hard, dangerous and probably pointless.

Member 2216, 2243 posts | Theres a plate load leg curl machine at the gym I go to, no-one seems to need more than 5-10kg on it. Dont think theyre worth bothering with though, would be better off with stiff leg deadlifts?

what is everyone's fran time? Member 3986, 10452 posts SQ 340, BP 200, DL 400940.0 kgs @ 129kgs Eq | I stacked the leg curl at my old gym but it was hard work, leg extensions can be quite heavy but I've stacked everyone I've been one, there was a 150kg pulldown at one gym I used to go to and that was pretty heavy.

Herman would piss that pulldown. He can do every single one....ever!

I remember playing the "client" when I was doing my PT training - I was told to say when the weight felt heavy: eventually we got to the end of the stack and I thought I had better just pretend and say it felt heavy though I could barely feel it

I could do an entire stack with the leg curl machine at my old gym with a gammy knee and a 200-210 deadlift. I used to be able to do the full stack at most gyms, and even did full stacks with leg ext with a single leg. I often struggle to stack shoulder press and tricep machines though. There was a leg ext machine that I helped out with for a clinical trial (lactic acid buildup for marathon runners vs powerlifters.) I was supposed to establish a 1rm and did the stack for 22 reps or something.

Member 2785, 205 posts SQ 300, BP 170, DL 335805.0 kgs @ 168kgs UnEq | leg curl in my old gym i was repping the stack for 20 odd reps current gym, im at about 2/3 for 5-8. the biggest problem with pin select machines is how heavy is each increment? they seem to work in a universal mystery gym unit that no ones allowed to know. that said, feels good to move that pin to the bottom each time!

my face was on fire Member 494, 2394 posts SQ 250, BP 150, DL 320720.0 kgs @ 150kgs UnEq | pulldown equals wire being pulled over two pulley wheels literally just pulling stack off the leg curls normal have an odd shaped pulley wheel which makes the resistance more at the top
