You would think their computer wouldn't accept the same name as both passengers surely ???

You would think so, but if this means they make a profit, I'm sure it'll magically accept it.

Not really, it is entirely possible to have two passengers with the same name on a flight. Not common or anything of course.

£140 for a name change is simply extortion. The sooner the industry is moderated properly the better. What a joke!

It's actually £110 for the name change but because I have already done on line check in it's another £30 to un-check him !
It's very close to the same price as a completely new ticket so I have decided to turn up and wing it, hope it doesn't get noticed or if it does just act thick and say I thought it was because he was a child travelling with his parent.

I just checked the small print and it's actually £15 to un-check someone, so the pushy guy on the phone was pulling a fast one unchecking the pair of us. Wonder if they are on commission and he could have changed the boarding pass for free if he really wanted to...

Apparently spelling mistakes they will change for free but not if the name is totally wrong.
It's to stop you giving your ticket to someone else - or terrorists booking in false names.

What happens if you try and wing it, it gets noticed and you can't buy another ticket because the flight is full? You could end up having to buy 2 new tickets.

Personally, as has been suggested I'd call them, ask to speak to a manager and then try to appeal to their sense of reason. If there's no joy then simply pay the price and forget about it............or add it to the cost of the next Rolls that you sell! Grin

Good point, however the guy on the phone said there were 45 seats remaining, and of course he could have the seat I have already bought for him, so the flight can't be full.
It's £160 for a name change at the airport so that's the worst case scenario.
The general consensus on the chat forums seems to be that it won't be noticed and if I get someone in a decent mood it won't be an issue anyway, so fingers crossed.
I might just try the call centre one more time, see if I get someone in a better mood than the last guy !
I will come back on and report what happened when I get back.

That's a good point, well made! Grin

Fingers crossed, it works out one way or another. There's nothing worse than feeling like you're being taken advantage of due to a silly error, especially when you're sure the error's not on your part.

I'm wondering whether windows has somehow "autofilled" my details as both passengers ? Can't see any other way it would happen.

Anyway, I think I will go in person to the Ryanair desk at the Airport, better face to face than some anonymous voice in a call centre, and tell them I've booked flights for me and my son but my name is on both boarding passes, is that normal or has something gone wrong and throw myself at their mercy !

I think better to do this than get stopped at the boarding gate.

I wouldn't even mention it, play daft and if they catch onto it just blame it on them. The customer is always right... But Ryan Air can be c#@ts
