No business travel outside your county. No non essential shops. No pubs restaurants or activities. Ireland was down to 58 cases per 100000. Ireland stopped Uk to Ireland flights Sunday. However, we have some Englishflu cases presenting in hospitals today. We are moving back to lockdown 5 again on St Stephens Day. It’s likely schools will remain closed in January. Ireland has 300 trucks marooned in Dover/Tilbury/the tunnel and warnings of fruit and medicine shortages in the new year. Feck 2020. | ||

Ham but hey Member 4787, 205 posts | The Ireland cases down to x per x raises an interesting question I think: How many cases do we aim for before lockdowns are lifted? 0? If you get to 0 and then a month later a new case pops up...what then? Lockdown again? I hope I am wrong but I think it is impossible to get cases to 0, in which case...should we forever be in an out of lockdowns? If it cant be eradicated then what? | ||

They've just had their first case in months, due to somebody coming in on a plane and not following regs, and so things have tightened up again for a while. It's very simple, and it works. | ||

Interesting, what do you make of the links Willisan posted previously about the lockdowns being ineffective? The Lancet fwiw explain that Taiwan had no lockdown so that's not exactly what they did...They did appear to close their borders and check more people early on but they never went into any kind of lockdown. Although I often see folk using them as an example for why lockdowns work, which is strange. | ||
