![]() crushed the generals chance of 6th place Member 588, 5477 posts SQ 200, BP 100, DL 200500.0 kgs @ 84kgs UnEq | Copied and pasted from my journal. This was from my comp on Saturday. Weighed in at 90.12k (usually u85kg) Was happy with the performance but think my sinclair went down slightly from previous totals at 85kg. I'll cut back into the 85kgs for my next comp the Scottish Seniors on 1st November where I hope to qualify for the British Seniors. Need 245 @ 85kg. I said:Saturday 6th September - Western Districts Weightlifting Championships @ Crossfit Glasgow My bodyweight has been up a bit coming into this due to various things going on over the summer so decided to compete heavy and slowly reduce it up until the Scottish which is in 8 weeks time. Plan was to make another good step towards British qualification at 85kg so was hoping for a 240 total possible split 108/132. During the warmup, snatches felt good so decided to take bigger jumps between each lift but still keep opener at 100kg. Snatch :
Thought I had lost a bit of upper back tightness on the 106kg so tried really hard to keep it on the 110kg. Ended up being too tense with the upper body on it and not pulling correctly. Again, feeling good warming up for clean and jerk. Had planned to open on 125 but increased it a kilo as there was someone out on 125 to give me more time. Clean and Jerk :
Ended up way forward on the clean but still managed to stand up easy enough and got a good jerk on it. 131kg was much better and felt really light on the shoulders. Good jerk. 135kg cleaned well and just sent the jerk forward slightly, managed to hang on it. It could have went either way but ended up getting 2 whites so happy to get the benefit of the doubt with that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cijeAYxdvCc Comments :Overall pretty happy with that performance. Coming in to this I had just snatched 107.5kg for a no straps PB and was getting above 130 clean and jerk. Feeling good to make those sorts of numbers minimums and start to creep up the heavier stuff!

My asshole is not watertight. Member 2926, 6051 posts SQ 217.5, BP 107.5, DL 225550.0 kgs @ 86kgs UnEq | Only just noticed the weight increase you posted. I thought you were looking pretty stacked in the video. You're snatches are looking really good. The extension looks absolutely spot on to me and the jerks are really coming along to. No hint of a press out on those. The cleans were power cleans in reality, I don't think there was any need to squat down after you caught them! ![]() Lovely work Allan. Do you think you'll struggle to lose the 5kg to get back to 85?

The 94 total is 260kg. That would be a nice total but I have no right being a 94, not yet. I would have needed 243 at 90.12kg to (very slightly) better the 235 @ 84.66kg I done in Feb. I wasn't really thinking about that at the time though.

Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | Well there is another way to look at it, Allan. If you do 260 at 94 you will be around the same as your 85 total, right? If you qualify for any competition, you are allowed to drop down to a lower class (but not go up a class) as you have technically done that total, as long as you tell them a certain time in advance. So, is it easier to hit 260 at under 94 (which won't be worse than your 85 outings), saving yourself the hassle of cutting, then get yourself back on track to 85 stardom over a longer period of time? Or to cut to 85 and hit 245, which is 4kg up on what you just hit at 90, in 8 weeks? Both are reasonable, but didn't know if you were aware of the lower class thing being allowed.

Do you think you'll struggle to lose the 5kg to get back to 85? Thanks mate. I meant to mention it, honest ![]() I don't think so, whenever I have competed at 85kg before I have been training around 87-88kg so I was only in reality 2-3kg heavy and weighed in at a true training weight. I have 8 weeks until the Scottish. I think if I can get back to 87kg within the next 6 weeks then I'll have absolutely no trouble making 85kg and shouldn't affect performance (much).

I didn't think the lower class thing was allowed. As technically you haven't hit that total at 85kg? I thought the other way round, if I hit 260 @ 85kg then I could move up, as technically I hit the 94kg total but couldn't go the other way round. There is tonnes of time to qualify left and I don't think 245kg+ is out of question within 8 weeks given the time I had to prepare for this one.

I would shoot them an email if you are interested but as far as I know it goes down, not up. Of course they are both options, I think equally viable.

Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | Scratch that mate. You can do: 245 at 85 to qualify for 85 260 at 94 to qualify for 94 260 at 85 to qualify for 85 or 94 you can't go down like I thought you could. If you do 245 at 85 and want to lift as a 77 you still have to do a 77 comp and hit the 77 total up to 4 weeks before the comp.
