Did yorkshires 105 novice comp yesterday. Since southern qualifier i havnt stopped eating easter eggs and chinese, pizza etc and managed to weigh in at around 98 - 99kg not bad to say i weighed in at around 87ish around 3 weeks ago!! Definatley need to start losing some weight as my calfs are getting a workout every time i walk anywhere!
As for the comp, it was a great day out. 105 comp was running along side the 90 comp so couldnt see as much of it as i would of liked. But finished nice and quickly without any trouble. Well done to everyone who competed. Especially well done to Naz who competed in his first comp and won the 105s. Well done to michael who missed out on 3rd place and well done to matt who competed in the 90s. Refs, spotters/loaders and organisers were great and made the day an enjoyable experience.

Write up

Medley
120 farmers, 100kg ish barrel then 250kg sledge all for 20m
Was really impressed with how the first two went. Farmers pickup felt strong, speed wasnt great to start with put then picked it up. Speed inbetween was good much better than medley in southern and i really started to think i was going to finish the medley in a really good time BUT the sledge was a b**ch! started to pull but my feet were slipping on the floor and i couldnt seem to get it moving enough to get my feet going. Stopped with the sledge at around 10m left.

55 monster db
A bit pissed with this as after a bit of messing around with it in the beginning i managed to find an ok way to press it but shoulders seemed a bit tight. I got 4 reps which is 1 off of what i got in training so cant complain too much.

200 Car Deadlift
Never used side handles before felt strange how the lift was almost in two parts but got into it as it went on. Started to get tired towards the end and had a few rests. 11 reps in total. Definatley happy with that.

250 Yolk for 20m

This for me felt really good. My best time in training was around 18secs and managed to get under 16.

120 stone load to 48inch platform

Never really like stones as ive not been great at them and they feel to much like hard work!lol. Only managed to get 120 for 1 in training but got 6 reps. Big thanks to james and boar for their encouragement on these.

Final placing 6th

really well done yesterday mate! you seem to do well in comp mode.

highlight was the stones, couldn't have gone any better. getting better in every comp

Macca the weight gain was enjoyable! Now not so sure. Need to now try and lose some as having at least 2 dinners not only isn't good for my weight but isn't good for my bank balance! Plus money sent for dragons on Friday so I definatley need to get it down before September

First chance ive had to get on here for longer than 10mins today so all this weeks training is posted together. Man felt every single session more than ever as i havnt done most for at least 2 ish weeks and i dont think i have squatted in around 3 or 4 weeks. Did cardio last week for the first time in ages. It didnt feel too bad but the bike made him hips really tight so squats were effected even more. im stretching out more now though so hopefully wont be so bad next week.

Managed to hurt my ankle whilst training this morning. Hopefully it will be ok in a few days time.

The power clean is where i hurt my ankle. Set up was fine and i pulled it pretty well compared to normal but as it came to around level with my hips i somehow managed to slip and lose my feet in front of me at the same time as losing the bar out of my hands. Next thing i know the bar had started to come down quicker than i was and hit me on my shins then me and the bar came crashing down on the platform!! Ankles been killing me ever since. Think its just twisted slightly. Then had to do a shift at work which wasnt nice.

cheers mate. didnt feel to good at the time now its pretty laughable really especially when you see it on the gyms cctv!!! Hopefully wont be to bad. Sure it wont anyway. Deads did feel pretty good hopefully ankle will be ok for them on friday.
