top man porkpie !! Ian did really well, both him and joe had close descisions go against them that could have swung the result !

fatpete did real well and mark looked big , handsome and strong !! very unlucky not to get the 400lb 3rd benchpress

DMPM got a great final deadlift too

fun days lifting

hayden was at home, very pissed off !

Some excellent lifting today from many people, and IMO the best atmosphere we've had yet. I'd've liked it better if it had either been two flights only, or three all interlaced, rather than 7 heavies on their own at the end, but this is a relatively minor niggle.

Well done to all the lifters, and especially to Bryn.

Excellent competition, with a great atmosphere. Like Rick says Bryn did a great job organising.

It was great to see so many guys (and girls!!) there off the site, meeting quite a few of them for a first time (Marc, Ben, BlackKnight) - only shook DMPM's hand at the end didn't get a chance to speak.

There was some great lifting across the board, the 260 deadlift (opener!) at U23 82.5s was a brilliant lift, but the lift of the day for me had to be Ian Shaw's 307.5 to put him in pole position. Actually, Pete's 322.5 British squat record was an absolutely fantastic lift too, very hard to choose between them.

The battle between Joe and Ian was immense, two great great lifters and it came down to a grandstand finish; I doubt we will see many more exciting finishes than we did today! Well done to both lads for a great perfomance, I'm looking forward to seeing the next show-down.

I took a few videos, mostly deadlifts, so will get them up later tonight.

I would like to echo that-fantastic atmosphere and some great lifting. It was great to put faces to names-what a friendly bunch! Enjoyed it lots and look forward to the next one.

Here's Andy handing Tony his 10 quid winnings after backing Shaw to win the 90s. I also put a cheeky tenner on Shawy with Rick to make things interesting, so there was a bit of money changing hands!!

In the background is Rick explaining to Bryn why he chooses L'Oreal (because he's worth it I think), in the middle is Boar, on the right hand is BlackKnight.

Good show all round. Met some good guys from the board and saw some top class lifting.

Pete lifted better than I've seeen before and Shaw bagged me a 10 spot.

Happy days.

Some very good lifting today, I was pleased with the way the day ran and thanks for the positive feedback, We really wanted to make sure that this event was done right a last minute hitch meant we couldn't have a projector scoreboard but the additional monitor helped a bit. I think we can make the heavy metal(music!) a regular feature as nobody complained about it(not even the masters lifters!). It helped to create a good atmosphere on the third rounds along with everyones shouting. Who said the other day that powerlifting was boring to watch??
The best lifter award was incredibly close, only about 3 wilks points between Ian, Joe and Jan Turba (770kg at 100kg b.w.)
I was well impressed with Petes Big squat too, he earned that. Lots of other notable lifts as well.
Thanks to all those who helped out.
