Not very happy with this. Expected to at least get 120kg x 10 on the bench but the way the 120kg fatigued me was crazy. I just didnt have any strength after the bench. I will stick with 120kg next week and hopefully make progress. On hindsight, my lats are still sore from chins on monday and I use my lats alot when benching. Maybe I ave an excuse after all. Grin

Overhead is still poor but as long as I am workig hard I dont mind.

4 days on the piss will do that ^^^^^^ to a man. Had a blinding weekend but paid for it earlier this evening.

Squats were easy enough, just the breathing again. First time I have done GMs for a while so kept it light and concentrated on form - I really felt it in my hammies and lower back. Chins were a joke.

Following on from a drunken conversation with a friend with no calfs (mine are not much better) we decided to lauch an all out assault of getting some cankles. The calf press was brutal and almost induced vomiting.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully the binge at the weekend wont hinder me too much.

Couple of practice push presses from behind the neck. Didn't like them but will give them a chance.

Didn't feel too great today and was away last week with work so I will treat last weeks missed session and today as deload sessions. Going to change the routine and start increasing the weights now.

That it is! I have never really induced growth in my calves and actually have poor calves due to 2 brken ankles in the past.

A nice set of cankles would be nice for summer.

After the semi intentional deload week, I actually feel really good. Brute strength isn't quite there at the moment but it will come but everything was done very fast and I felt explosive.

On some of the push presses I re-bent my knees so technially it wasn't a push press. I will maybe rename these as 'overheads'

All in all I felt fresh so hopefully the weights will shoot up........

Skippig - not much.

Pretty good session, didnt feel hugely strong but moving from the higher volume to the heavier weights feels good and I think I am on the right route.

Bench felt odd. 130kg didnt feel heavy but I had some pain when the bar was just above the chest. Maybe I'm not fully recovered from last week (6days rest).

Push presses were alright, got some extra reps at 90kg so 100kg didnt go up but I'm enjoying the which is what counts.

Cleans didn't feel particularly fast but its the first time I have powercleaned 100kgs for a long time (maybe ever).

Some volume arm work at the end for fun.

nice to see another lifter with similar kind of GM vs squat ratio than mine! Do you squat wide? Do you do your GMs with your squat stance?

I actually squat with a narrowish stance. Not nearly as wide as your stance!

I setup with exactly the same stance for GMs. Should my GMs be higher? 120kg didn't feel too bad. Think I will be upping it to 130kg next week.

no, i meant they are higher than what many people do with GMs in comparison to their squats.

I go with the westside rule that your GM one rep max should be about 66% of your squat Happy

Oops. Cheers. I am new to GMs in that I have not done them in a long time.

I have a disproportionatly strong back so I suppose thats where my strength lies. I really enjoy GMs and it will be interesting to see how the help my squats as they hit my hams pretty hard. Maybe I have a huge squat in me just waiting to get out Grin

I have a disproportionately strong back too but I can't GM to save my life.

Had a big night out on Friday and foolishly started arm wrestling. I have pain in my entire right arm. Shooting pains from shoulder to elbow and elbow to wrist. This didn't really affect strength as much as the beer did but my right shoulder is noticably stiff and was causing me to lean forward in the squat.

My lower back was goosed after the squats so decided to play it safe with the GM's.

Calf press was very painful but it was a bit of a weight jump so I expected it.

Decent session despite the night(s) out.
