Excellent comp mate. Just seen the vid and the 240 squat was excellent. Surprisingly perhaps, to me it looked a lot deeper than the 225, which looked a bit tentative. Your deadlifting looks really easy. 220 came up real easy. When you gonna start using a bench shirt? Come on, you can't let your bro outbench you by 40k.

excellent lifting, 240 squat looked the deepest of them all. Out of interest were you wearing a suit for the deadlifts? wasent sure if it was just a singlet or suit -i know f**k all about equipment lol-?

Cheers guys. I might do a bench comp later this year, if I do I will be trying out a bench shirt again. If not it will probably next years qualifier, hopefully get some decent carry-over and get something approaching a respectable bench!

I was raw on deadlift, just a belt. Not going to use a deadlift suit till I pass 500lbs (227.5kg) at the very least. While my deadlift is making good progress im not going to tackle using a dl suit when the carryover is never going to be huge.

Back to training.

Friday 23rd July @ Fitness First, Leeds:

Squat: (No belt)
60kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 5
140kg x 5
140kg x 5

Bench:
30kg x 5
40kg x 5
50kg x 5
60kg x 5

Military Press:
30kg x 5
40kg x 3
40kg x 3
40kg x 3

Deadlift:
60kg x 5
90kg x 5
110kg x 5

Assistance stuff, kroc rows, lat pull down, guns 'n' abs, leg press

Squats felt like death. Pushed these too heavy just 5 days after my comp, especially since I wasnt even wearing a belt. Legs were knacked for a few days, which feels daft with 140kg! Live and learn I suppose.

Monday 26th July @ Fitness First, Leeds:

Bench:
40kg x 10
50kg x 8
60kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5

Some Kroc rows, 32kg x 20, dumbell handles are crazy thick so grip was tough! Plus some other assistance stuff, cant remember it lol

Bench felt nice enough, going to start pushing the volume again like before the Brits, keep pushing that up and gaining strength and better form.

Wednesday 28th July @ Fitness First, Leeds:

Squat:
60kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 5
145kg x 5

Close Grip bench:
30kg x 10
40kg x 8
50kg x 8
60kg x 8
60kg x 8
60kg x 8

Deadlift: (Double overhand grip)
60kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 5

Not too much assistance, was pretty tired so just some light db stuff and some leg press.

My legs had been stiff and sore since Friday on and off so I thought I would just do some light stuff and stop as soon as set felt remotely tough. I thought this might happen after 100kg but it lasted all the way to 145kg some Im happy with that. Will bring the volume back over time with squat, shouldnt take too long I dont think. Im going to do some double overhand deadlift because I realised ive been doing mixed grip in the same way for more than a year on every set and that seems like a bad idea in the long run so some double over hand for now.

Clean and press:
30kg x 5
40kg x 5
50kg x 2
55kg x 1

Little bit of assistance stuff.

Enjoyed the volume on the box squats and bench, should pay off long term and it felt comfortable. Messed about with some clean and press, form and strength on these is awful. The key lifts are getting back to form so its all good.

Yeah it sucks but I need somewhere to train while im coming back into it so it does a job. Its good for my ego being the strongest guy there. Tongue Will be back to Ralls v. soon and back to being the weakest!

Monday 2nd August @ Fitness First, Leeds

Bench:
50kg x 5
60kg x 5
70kg x 5
75kg x 5
75kg x 5
75kg x 5
75kg x 5
75kg x 5

Military Press:
30kg x 3
30kg x 3
30kg x 3
30kg x 3
30kg x 3
40kg x 3
40kg x 3
40kg x 3
50kg x 3

Plus some db rows (up to 42kg x 5), some back and gun stuff and a bit of cardio

All was good today and bench is moving along nicely, going up 2.5kg a session benching twice a week means I get plenty of volume in without it being mega taxing and it doesnt get too heavy too quickly. Once I get to ~90kg I will think of a new plan because thats where my build up on bench cocked up last time. Ive decided low weight high volume might help me move my overhead on a bit, help my iron out stupid mistakes while slowly gaining a bit of strength.

90kg x 5
120kg x 5
142.5kg x 5

Did some leg press but I was gone by this time so no more than that

Felt good for the first part of the session but I tired quickly. I wasnt feeling amazing all day thats probably why I tired so much.

100kg x 5
125kg x 3

Monday 9th August @ Fitness First, Leeds:

Bench:
50kg x 5
60kg x 5
70kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5

Military Press (from floor):
32.5kg x 3
32.5kg x 3
32.5kg x 3
32.5kg x 3
32.5kg x 3
42.5kg x 2
42.5kg x 2
42.5kg x 2
52.5kg x 1

Bit of cardio, then ab and gun stuff

Happy with this. Considering 85kg is my 5 rep PB this felt good. When I did 80kg x 5 x 5 the volume was starting to feel tough, will see how I recover from it this time round. My military press plan is something I came up with off the top of my head, a sort of pyramid idea to get some volume into my oh work, will see if it pays off in a few weeks.

Was planning on training at Ralls tomorrow but the timing wont work. Will be there next Wednesday though for some squats and deadlifts. Happy

Wednesday 11th August @ Iron Age Gym, Bradford:

Squat:
60kg x 5
85kg x 5
110kg x 5
130kg x 5
Loose knee wraps on
150kg x 5
150kg x 5
150kg x 5

Trained at Iron Age Gym in Bradford for the first time. Awesome gym, would highly recommend it. 3 power racks, oly/deadlift platform, bench and some sm kit including 3 big tyres, a couple of logs and some farmers. The guy who runs it, James, seems like a really top bloke too.

Only had time for a short session today but Im happy enough with some decent squats. A week off deadlifting wont do me any harm at this point.

Cheers Macca. Im still well chuffed with my performance. Happy Will see you at Ralls soon hopefully.

Tuesday 17th August @ Fitness First, Leeds:

Military Press (from floor):
35kg x 3
35kg x 3
35kg x 3
35kg x 3
35kg x 3
45kg x 2
45kg x 2
45kg x 2
55kg x 1

Bench:
60kg x 5
70kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5
80kg x 5

Plus a bit of cardio, Kroc rows (36kg x 20), and some gunz.

Back from Barcelona and I was feeling good to go. This session went nicely despite having to bench after oh. Kept the bench weight the same since it was a week since I last benched, just back from holiday so not ideal sleeping/eating for a few days and im training again tomorrow so thought I would err on the side of caution. Its not like repeating a week will cost me anything in the long run.

Happy with this session. Got to watch Big Macca, Andy Bolton and Dave Carter in action which was awesome! Finally got a decent deadlift in for the first time since the Brits. The 12 repper was just for some fun and I shocked myself tbh, didnt think I would manage 8 reps nevermind 12!
