Help me rescue my Insulina. Member 5366, 1090 posts | Whereabouts? Try something like Skyscanner to find cheap flights. I've never been myself but just playing around once found return flights from Manchester to Reykjavik for £59 - it's normally a few hundred. If you're staying in Reykjavik a visit to Jakabol is a must!

Mask it or Casket !! Member 4600, 8166 posts SQ 240, BP 162.5, DL 255657.5 kgs @ 90.5kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 04.05.2015 @ 12:21 PM by dannyboy73 I went to Iceland in 2004 it cost me a fortune. But that was before their economic collapse. Reykjavik is where most people end up, the taxi transfer was 100 pound one way and 20 pounds bus return ( depending if you land night or fly night... reverse) Attend their local swimming pools with various hot tubs. Icelandic females are the most promiscuous in Europe according to studies. Wale watching is a must for a day trip Swimming in the open volcano is also a must trip Beer was about 7 pounds a pint back then and dinner was 30 pounds each in just a pub! We spent 150 pounds one night on dinner so beware and take protein bars and a bottle of sambuka It might have changed...I enjoyed it very much though...when I had cash and before the...oh that's the politics thread, sorry Oh, and the hot water smalls like rotten eggs because it is heated through volcanic something...Im not a geologist. You do get used to it though

Member 4923, 1795 posts | Thanks folks. We'll probably stay in Reykivik and not wander too far. Whale watching is on my list Danny, as well as a volcano tour. There's almost 24 hours of daylight there during the summer

My wife sort of wants to go but prefers hot places and won't walk 20 miles a day with me - I think if you are remotely confident with some basic first aid and common sense, you can really take in some outstanding features of the volcano laden land. Also yes, it does seem to be pretty darn expensive for even a week, comparative of some longer haul flights that can match the price (with cheaper accommodation). Please though, if you go - take a ton of photos and do a full write up.
