Me too?! You're in kit?
I'm sure Moz is stalking me haha. I'd never met him until I did the North West divisional in December, but if he's at the North Mids he'll have been at every comp I've done since!

I've bought myself a new t-shirt from Tesco, I wouldn't call it kit thoughGrin

Raw squats and some other leg based stuff today.

Squat:
Bar x 10
60kg x 6
80kg x 6
100kg x 6
120kg x 3 x 3
100kg x 6
80kg x 6
60kg x 10- All paused for 2 seconds.

Leg extensions:
3 x 10

Calf raises:
3 x 10

Raw squat has definitely suffered due to my focus on equipped lifting. Ah well.

Finally going to do a little write up of what happened at the weekend!

Squat:

Warm ups didn't feel quite as good as usually, so lowered my opener to 175kg. Sensible!

On the platform-
175kg- Pass- 3 whites- Nice easy opener.
182.5kg- Fail- Descended nicely, then for some reason fell backwards right at the bottom. Spotters didn't react so the weight got dumped.
182.5kg- Fail- Descended alright, then nothing happened. Crap!

Bench press:

Warm ups went well for this so stuck to the plan.

On the platform-
100kg- Pass- 3 whites- Same as squat.
105kg- Fail- Touched easy enough, but flipped it back over my face on the way up. Nice catch spotters. Technique, not strength let me down.
107.5kg- Fail- Can't actually remember what happened with this one. I was sulking by this point.

Deadlift:

Nice warm ups, made me start thinking positively again.

On the platform-
170kg- Pass- 3 whites
180kg- Pass- 3 whites- Flew off the floor, horrific lockout though.
182.5kg- Fail- FLEW off the floor. Failed at lockout though.

Really need to work on my deadlift lockut. And I really need to work on not sulking when things don't go my way.

Not a great day for me lifting wise, comp PBs on squat and bench, and a comp PB total. But I know I'm capable of far more!

Met some real nice guys too. Put faces to names.

Also, in other news, tried on a size 36 Super Centurion yesterday. Made me realise why Joe Walton said I need to ditch my Superior and get a better suit. Finances permitting one will be purchased shortly.

Been in contact with the guy who runs Goodlift in the Czech Republic. A size 34 Super Cent will be mine in 3-4 weeks. Shorter waiting time than Pullum and a lot cheaper!

Honest write up mate,

At least you've identified areas you need to work on and have now experienced what it's like when you have a wobble in comp.

Learn from it and you will come back a far stronger (mentally of physically) athlete!

Comp PB's are awesome as well Cool

Yeah, I'm competing again at the end of March at so should hopefully be mentally tougher for that. Will be aiming to do what was planned last weekend, to make up for it!

Comp PBs are nice, but still a bit frustrating, when you know you're capable of more haha.

Congrats on your new comp pbs dude Happy
You'll learn a lot from that competition I think and it can only make you a better athlete. Knowledge is power and now you know exactly what you need to do. Looking forward to you blasting out some new PBs at next comp.

Horncastle agrees with you mate, it must be the Marc factor, good benching.

Seem to either set a new PB, or equal an old one every time I go there, so yes, Horncastle certainly does agree with me.

Marc is quite simply the man. I know I'm hardly a world beater or anything, but I wouldn't even be this good if it wasn't for Marc's help. Actually, everyone at Horncastle has helped me for that matter.

I think I'll stop singing their praises quite so much now, don't want those guys getting too big headed! Tongue

Great bunch of lads, I'm looking forward to the comp on 27th.
Will your young lady be in tow? Is it the same young lady?

Possibly to the first question, no to the second question! Tongue
