As shown.

https://ninefit.uk/products/shoulderhorn-rotator-cuff-training-device-size-3-xlargexxlarge?gclid=Cj0KCQiAlsv_BRDtARIsAHMGVSYTG3lsvLQ4uMzNWOihkh-JTqaFhSUXsS5WhTXQqiC9NOmOfrRSAlkaAvYwEALw_wcB

Ridiculously overpriced there for what is essentially a small piece of lightweight shaped metal with some padding, but the best thing going for isolating the rear delts. My shoulder issues were mainly due to imbalance and this helps maintain balance. Highly recommended, if you can find one. They're like hen's teeth.

You're welcome WayneHappy

Today's session was easy on paper, if any session is ever easy. But throw in a bit of sleep deprivation and an idiot who forgot to take his anti inflammatory until he was heading for the garage, and you get a tired old guy with a sore arm struggling from start to finish. Add in the cold and you have the recipe for leaving it until tomorrow. However...

Bench - singles paused, no out breath
Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
130 for 1
105 for 8 x 5 sets
Finish

Shattered. Fine under the bar, wrecked between sets, but ground them out and now feeling slightly glowing with self righteousness as I drink my protein drink and munch my protein bar.

I remembered to take an anti inflammatory last night and another before I trained, and it made a noticeable difference. Decent energy levels when I eventually pulled myself away from the guitar and out into the cold

Bench - singles paused, no out breath
Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1
130 for 1
135 for 1
115 for 5 x 5 sets

Not much more to say. Hit all my numbers, never on my limit, the comeback continues, felt good.

I actually felt good before I trained today. What's happened?

Bench
Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1 - paused
140 for 1 - paused
125 for 3
125 for 3
125 for 3
125 for 3
125 for 4 - because it was there
Finish.

All done in 45 minutes. Warm ups weren't heavy and creaky, so much so that I jumped straight from 120 to 140. Loved hitting the extra rep on the last set. That's the one that makes you stronger. Getting back to where I want to be, slowly but surely.

Now to shower and then go and get a new guitar.

Less than four weeks to the big challenge, so time to stop avoiding back workouts and start getting into shape again.

Seated Rows - 60 for 20 x 3 sets
Lat Pulldowns - 45 for 10 x 5 sets
Facepulls - 30 for 10 x 5 sets*
Shoulder Horn - 10s for 10 x 5 sets
Finish

*It might have been 6, or even 7 sets, but it was at least 5.

Gently does it. Twice a week for three weeks should help. I wanted to do curls as well, but I don't like doing specific arm exercises, or front and side delts, the day before bench, so maybe Friday or Saturday for them.

Bench cardio tomorrow - 5 sets of 8 with 107.5. Might ship in some oxygen first.

A bit late starting today, thanks to an escaped sheep. Bench today, and not only that, but 8s, my least favourite bench session. But it had to be done...

Bench
Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1 - paused
130 for 1 - paused
107.5 for 8 x 5 sets
Finish.

Reads easy, in reality tough! The singles felt heavy and creaky. The first set of 8s was so hard that I decided to settle on three sets. But after set three, I had a long rest and did set four. And then after set four, I had another long rest and did set five. And then after set five, I had a another long rest and then unloaded the bar.

Which proves that it's ok to feel weak and listless between sets, but not when you've got the bar in your hands.

I'm in a cycle of going to bed very late, not sleeping (creative brain), eventually dropping off and getting up between noon and 1.00 pm, still tired, sleep deprived, and capable of doing little but making a coffee and flopping on the chair for a couple of hours. And, of course, at midnight I'm wide awake and ready to rock and roll. So I thought, if I feel good late, let's train late. So I started at 10.45 and finished a tad before midnight. It might even tire me enough to help me to sleep.

Dumbbell Curls
Superset of 12.5s for 20 plus 10s for 20 x 5 sets - easy to write, quite hard work

DBSLRs
10s for 10 x 5 sets (might have been more sets, but at least 5)

DBFLRs
10s for 10 x 5 sets

Finish

I'll do rear delts and upper back tomorrow, but wanted to get arms and front/side delts done today as I bench Monday.

First time for dumbbells in the sitting room. Worked well, won't be the last.

Having a 'competition' target is quite motivational in itself.

I can't remember the last time I trained this late. I felt weaky (weak and creaky) but plodded on regardless.

Bench

Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1 - paused
135 for 1 - paused
117.5 for 5 x 4 sets
117.5 for 6
Finish.

I had thoughts of arm curls as well, but that last rep just about finished me off - and it was a quarter to nine!

In spite of the lateness of the hour, got all my reps, plus an extra one on the last set. I reckon that if I can do an extra rep on my last set, it leaves me in a mentally good place the next time I do 5s, with 2.5 more. Next bench session is 127.5 for 3. Coincidentally, last time I did 3s, I did 125 for 4 on my last set.

To hopefully lift 140 aged 65, and after that then lift enough to be able to call myself the UK's strongest 65+ bencher (Not of all time, and only until Allan Hulme hits 65!). Based on my 'investigations' (which exclude some ex strongman, thrower or rugby player doing humungous weights in a shed somewhere) 145 will put me where no other bencher aged 65 or over is currently.

Really disappointing session tonight.

Bench

Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1 - paused
140 for 1 - paused
127.5 for 3
127.5 for 2 - failed 3rd
Finish.

The plan was a 140 single and 127.5 for 3 x 5 sets. All went well up to 140, but the first triple was a grind and I couldn't lock out the third rep on set 2. Considering I had done 125 x 4 on the fifth set of my last 3s session, something was clearly wrong. Maybe just training too late, maybe slightly under the weather, maybe too much running around and not sufficiently fuelled? Who knows. But the sensible thing was to stop, and hopefully try again tomorrow, or, at a push, Saturday. No point grinding out doubles with a weight I could do fours with last time.

An extra bench session, because of Thursday's failure. No top single as a last warm up today, just wanted to get the reps done.

Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1
127.5 for 3 x 5 sets
Finish

Feeling a lot, lot happier than I was after Thursday's nonsense. What was the difference? Maybe I trained less tired and better fuelled, maybe training earlier was better for me, maybe I just respected the weight a bit more. Whatever, got it done, the world is a better place, and I just hope I've left myself enough recovery time for Monday's session, which will be the dreaded five sets of eight! Cardio!!

Monday bench

Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 2
130 for 2
110 for 8 x 3 sets
Finish

Thursday Bench

Bar for 10
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 2
135 for 2 - best double for some time
120 for 5 x 5 sets
Finish.

I actually did more reps with 120 today than I did with 110 on Monday, which suggests that either something was wrong on Monday or I hadn't recovered from the fill-in session on Saturday. Probably the latter, but all good now.
