Cheers dude! The straps are a feature about half of the time, but am ditching them to condition my hands before the competition.

And the pull

Lots of people get very, very reliant on straps... It's easily done if you aren't careful.

Keep sharp and get the best out of yourself for this first comp of the year

Looking at openers today.

Snatch
95kg
95kg
95kg

CJerk
125kg MISS - Left my wrist tape on from snatch and as a result didn't get my elbows through. Lost clean forward. Dickhead.
125kg
125kg

So potentially will open on 95/125 if the warm ups feel good. If not, 90/120

Good luck, from my ventures into your log you're snatch and c + j are both up about 10k since the last comp, if I'm not mistaken. That is a MAJOR improvement

Central Open WL Championships

Had two lifters from UoB to handle first, Sarah in 58sen who totalled 130kg to qualify for the English and British, as expected. Also henry, 94jun, in his first competition totalled 170kg. Proud day for Coach Dave!

Anyway, I weighed 104.8kg. Was a bit tired and grumpy from such an early start, long drive, coaching, then sitting around all day til my group, but there you go!

Warm ups were decent.

Snatch

95kg Good lift. Pissed it, best lift of the warm ups too.
100kg No lift. Basically got it, then decided to let it drop. c**t.
100kg No lift. Made a right sphincter of it.

Clean jerk

120kg Good lift. Solid
125kg Good lift. Slight elbow related wobble though
130kg No lift. Press out.

220kg total, which was the target. A 10kg total increase from November. However not especially pleased as it could, arguably should, have been 230kg, but such is life. I missed 95/125 on my third lifts last time out, so good to get them.

The plan to increase the total by an average of 10kg per competition through the year remains on track. English next year perhaps.

I have a checklist of things to work on, and 8 weeks to do it before the next one.

Well done Dave!!!

How does it feel to actually compete in a sport after playing strongman...?

You've not been training a long time to make national championships... So when you do, and I know you will... It will be great

As a lifetime goal you should be looking at getting a medal at the English championships and then there is always the masters movemts which is a great completely separate movement all together

The future is bright mate... Any vids?

Nice lifting in the comp Dave, shame you couldn't have nailed the 100 snatch, but still it is progress which is the main thing.
