the UK's leading expert in bio mechanics Member 1973, 7379 posts | I have currently settled on some goals, so will be documenting my training again. You lot were right, the competitor itch doesn't go away! Anyway, a bit of background for those that don't know me: I was a 140kg open strongman competitor with two ESM finals under my belt, then training for the Giants Live qualifier my shoulder fell apart, and required a fair old surgical rebuild, almost exactly a year ago. I was unable to train for a fair while, and when I started again I was bloody useless, then started a reasonable run of training before a knee issue derailed me about six weeks ago. Following a lot of soft tissue and mechanical work, I stepped back into the gym to do some proper lifting earlier this week. I am currently 103kg at 13.5% BF, from 140kg at 26% BF, so I look quite different. I have lost virtually all my strength, so am pretty much starting from scratch, but I have goals. I talked about this before, but I think that being a strength athlete who has competed at national final level in all three disciplines (SM, WL, PL) is an achievable, and worthwhile goal. So it shall be. SM is obviously ticked off, and is now done and dusted. As an old man who is only competent as a WLer I predict this will be the hardest of the remaining two, so my intention is to train for the WL total (255kg English / 275kg British @ 105kg) and the strength required for the PL total (572.5kg @ 105kg) will come along the way. Hopefully I will be threatening the totals by the end of this year or the start of next, so we shall see. I think the BWL English will be February or March which may be a bit soon, and I think the GBPF British will be in the summer, so should be attainable. To start with I just need to get a bit of lifting back on the go, so a simple A/B accumulation routine should do the trick for now. | ||
