Hi guys just a quick question from some of you powerlifters

A mate of mine is a month out from his first meet, he has only just been training for strength (bodybuilding before that) and has no idea how to structure his workouts from now up to the meet he has and to peak effectively for maximum perfromance.

I have no idea myself either hence asking here, I realise there are probably a number of variables but if we could get a rough sort of idea (% ,sets, etc)

all I can Tell you is hes doing a juniors, uner 80 I think and has been just maxing out every session, I told him he needs to stop doing this.

He currently has a squat day, bench day and deadlift day once a week for each

any help would be great cheers guys

Great thread

British strongman is so awesome at the moment so much young talent coming up its very hard to put them in order after say top 4-5 its so close.

Make for a very exciting sport in UK currently as so many capable of going all the way to the top of the world stage

as allways, time, money, appetite, if u can be arsed and many other variables play a part in every1s diet. i personally rank nutrition as important at the training itself if not more so but i dont think its easy.

i can easily get through 10000 cals some days n still feel need for more, other days i can barely force 5000 down.

my main prob is big meals, after years of bodybuilding and dieting n small meals every 2 hours i still have days were i cant eat big portions. i recently have become reliant on a blender and making calorie dense, rich shakes full of quality ingredients.

Know what you mean buddy

My blender is my best friend

Also get a majorly physical job so Big cals is essential for me

I spend around 100 pound a week in aldi every week

and top up stuff like bread milk in the week about 20 quid

this is for 3 of us though in the house but 70% is my intake I would estimate

I LOVE ALDI lol
