Tried the wedge reeboks last night. Delighted with them. (http://www.reebok.ie/crossfit%C2%AE-lifter-plus/V60040_580.htm...
Very stable with no side roll (compared to converse that used to dip on the toes and are beginning to burst on the little toe side). They are double thick leather on the sides over the ball of the foot and little toe area so no fear of bursting them. The sole is slightly wider than the upper. This made them very stable.
The wedge is solid plastic. It grips heel well with the strap. I couldn't get it to bend at all by hand. They have a rubber feeling material on the sole where it contacts the floor. Better grip than chucks or barefoot or deadlift socks which is what I've been using.
I found front squat harder to hold the bar, but back squat was maybe easier on my lower back and shins. I couldn't use them for lunges, but will give them a go next ohp day.
Thanks for the recommend.

If your cleaning+pressing with a hitch do you need a bar with middle knurling?

Bump or is the silence about pendlay an answer itself...

Thanks for the advice. Decided to go for the reeboks with the wedge and picked up a cheap pair of these to use instead of the chucks for pressing and farmers outdoors. Hope the grip is as good as it says.

They seem a bargain for €72 quid then.

What sort of shoes do people do farmers/yoke in? flat or wedge?

Been looking to replace my bar as its bent. Want for deadlift, pressing, cleans, front squats. Don't mind using the bent bar for back squats, buts its awful for deadlift and clean.

Someone offered me a nearly new Pendlay Nexgen 2009 bar for €330 (£260) locally. Hoping to get him down to €250. Seems a good price from new, but they don't seem to get much review online compared to TPB, Elelko etc. They seem to be discounting the 2011 in starter sets ones in USA on reviews I did find.

Anyone used one? Would I be better with the Wolverhampton powerbar (or https://www.d8fitness.com/product/7ft-olympic-bar-duplicate-2/ €220)or Strenghtshop 2029? Both are about the same price with postage.

Looking for a pair of shoes for squatting and clean + press. Anyone had these would recommend or say avoid these?

http://www.reebok.ie/crossfit%C2%AE-lifter-plus/V60040_580.htm... €78
http://www.adidas.ie/powerlift-2-shoes/Q33821_560.html €72
https://www.d8fitness.com/store/foot-wear/adidas-adipower/ €160 (these that much better than the normal adidas?)
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/inov-8-fastlift-335-shoes-aw14-1/ €128

I'm lifting in converse or deadlift socks atm. What's good shoes for Farmers and stones? Converse are a bit slippery in wet. Can't find nikes at a good price. I find the fit in Strenthshop too wide.

How does that bar compare to the texas power bar? TPB are £369 locally(http://www.bmacstrength.co.uk/bars-and-attachments/olympic-wei... Wolverson is around €300.

Those white wall wheels are a bit of a tarts handbag... track bikes get drop bars unless your a hipster with a beard and no socks.
» Bcaa's (Go to post)22-12-2014 @ 10:24
I take BCAA and a banana during training after work. Gets me through training when my last meal was 2-3 hrs earlier.
BCAA's and Protein powders are bad most of the time. Your body cannot digest all the protein so turns it into sugar.

They had Russian doping expose on Newstalk. They podcast the show if anyone want to listen. http://www.newstalk.com/Hajo-Seppelt-on-Russia-allegations

It's easier to reach your natural limits training on roids. Faster recovery means you can train more. More training means becoming expert faster. Non roids recovery is slower so less opportunity to train. Add to that increased muscle potential. No hating, its just common sense.
» Cheapest powerlifting bar rated 850-900lb (Go to post)08-12-2014 @ 12:09
Anyone ever use a bar from d8fitness? They do the bison bars for 220euro and pendelay. He said his own bars are made by a big manufacturer rated to 900kg, they do a powerlifting marked version. I can't find anyone who has used the powerlifting one. The oly bars get good reviews from a crossfit gym here.

Events day today, but dying with DOMs. Switching to sets of 8 from 5x5 is tough. Had to reduce the weight to complete squats, but guess I'll go back up again faster. A whole day of squats has me dying.
Good Mornings/Knurling is killer on the neck. Any tips on how to stop the bar moving in motion welcome? Otherwise I'll have to repurpose a tea towel.Wink
