I found this online: http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/training-for-no...
Seems like it would be fun to try instead of 5x5 with an event day for me. I was finding the heavy squats 3 days a week tough mentally and want to give my lower back a break too.
Hoping I can get log clean+press up to 100kg for 65kg. Also sumo deadlift to 200kg from 170kg. Not huge, but a PB is a PB.
Anyone any advice for upper back exercises that aren't rows and pull ups for the press day? I did DB side and back raises, but my shoulders felt tired anyway after the clean and press and was aware it wasn't hitting my back. Was thinking of using the sled and pulling above shoulders maybe? Duck Walk (not sure with deadlift the next day)?
Also event day is about speed as far as I can see. Would 70% of max sound about right for this kind of training?

Do Americans have some weird inability to recover from training, for a novice why the f**k would you only deadlift and squat heavy once a fortnight?!

Events day today, but dying with DOMs. Switching to sets of 8 from 5x5 is tough. Had to reduce the weight to complete squats, but guess I'll go back up again faster. A whole day of squats has me dying.
Good Mornings/Knurling is killer on the neck. Any tips on how to stop the bar moving in motion welcome? Otherwise I'll have to repurpose a tea towel.Wink
