You need to keep the bar much closer to your body, which means you'll go through a sort of "scarecrow" position (arms bent, elbows high and out). You're straight-arming the thing overhead (I wasn't kidding when I said strong). This guy's form isn't bad. These high pulls are an exaggerated version of what you need to be doing with your arms before dipping under to catch the bar, but it's still a cool video.

I've not done massive weights on the hang snatch but have worked up to 70kg on the eleiko bar down at Bodyshatters; just takes time

Big fish in a small pond Member 1150, 2101 posts | Im no olympic lifter but the bar is travelling far out infront of you, therefore your using alot of delts. The bar needs to stay in a straighter line and you need to be dropping under and catching it, meeting the bar

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | ironage said:these are hang snatches done right!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyfFfp_K0VM It depends on why you are doing them. Very high hang snatch like this would probably have very little carryover to anything other than weightlifting.

Member 3684, 51 posts SQ 220, BP 135, DL 260615.0 kgs @ 91kgs UnEq | Hang snatch should involve dropping deep under the bar. your doing hang power snatch (power = catching the bar without dropping below parallel). Start from just above the knee (hang position), in the vid you started from the hip and dropped down to the knee very quickly then bounced back up. Also, in that start position, squeeze your shoulder blades and lift your chest up, your back seems a bit rounded. And then just exactly what the others have said, shrug as high as you can then pull the bar up/your body under the bar, keeping it close to your body.
