some nice relaxing jazz. Caffeine is a diuretic yes. However if you drink a cup of coffee the net result is increased hydration. Same as with a can of Monster etc. However hydration really has nothing to do with the effect that creatine exerts on exercise performance. It will not hinder absorption nor hinder the increase in 'PCr'. Most of the subjects in the orginal studies (the Hultman/Green/Harris group) looking at creatine loading popped the creatine in teas or coffees. This idea came from a study (Vandenburg et al 19??) that essentially loaded people with creatine, tested performance via a very arduous bout of isokinetic extension of the knee and repeated taking a dose of caffeine prior. They saw that the performance increase (total work done IIRC) due to creatine was reduced after the caffeine. However they could not really show a decent mechanism by which this would happen. The study has since been refuted by being repeated by other groups with no change in performance due to taking caffeine before the same bout of exercise. So I suggest not worrying about caffeine and whilst using creatine. In am quite sure an excess of caffeine will have more worrying problems.

For less money you get way more kcals and protein. I actually like a cold couple of pints of milk as much as some lesser choc milkshakes.

Milk tends to get some bad press, and while I've slugged a gallon a day, for most people I'd avoid that quantity! Fat soluble nutrients, protein and decent fat all good. As for lactose? Personally lactose gives me no GI issues, and I respond really well to it in terms of recovery. In short, I love milk! It's not for everyone though!
