This is kind of a spur from the 'what were your goals thread' - because it got me thinking that, ok, so I missed all the goals (i think partly because they were set quite late in the year) - but it doesn't mean I didn't achieve anything.

My totals at the start of 2006 looked like this:
Deadlift 85 kg
Squat 50 kg (and it was an awful one as well, would never have passed in a million years)
Bench 37.5 kg (touch and go).

Now they are
Deadlift 115 kg (and im still hoping for more by the end of the year)
Squat 65 kg
Bench 42.5 kg (paused)

Now thats not so bad is it? Grin

Also, my strict pressing has gone from 20 kg barbell to 30 kg, push pressing to 35 kg (although i'm sure there is alot more there) and I have sorted out at least some of my form problems.

I have also had the most mad, life changing, eventful year in my whole life, and taken up thai boxing at the same time!

Good thread, Jo.

I suppose my year has definitely been a mixed bag - with injuries rearing their ugly head a few too many times.

My total at the start of the year was 100/65/120, although it actually took me a few months to get back to that stage (I fondly remember those rehab days spent in the stretching area, chest pressing the 2.5k dumbells!).. now 155/100/200 so infinitely better.

My main achievements were 200k deadlift, 1000lbs total, 100k bench and coming back from my shoulder injury. I still don't really feel like I've reached any landmarks that I'm proud of on squats because everything apart from the 155 was too easy..

At the start of the year i had never done a Squat or Deadlift and i'd only done barbell Bench Press a couple of times at the most (i used the smith machine and other chest machines!), then started doing a 5x5 routine in March with Squats, Deadlifts, Bench and Rows mainly. I remember doing deads with 60kg and finding it hard at the start haha!

I think i was most pleased when i pulled 200 and (more recently) squatted 150.

Nice Davo - didn't realise you used to be so weak.

Pity you're still skinny Unhappy

When are you going to start a Sugden bulk!?! Your lifts will rocket mate - 500 total in no time!

Lol i dunno when im starting a 'Sugden Bulk' i would love to get to about 100kg but i've got tits at about 85kg!

I dread to think what they would be like at 100kg ...

Maybe wearing black all the time will help???

achievements... ok, still one month to go, but i dont think these will change:

- 200kg squat. That felt better than the subsequent PBs of 205. 207.5 and 212.5. There is something magical about milestones, and you can feel it.

- 227.5kg dead. Long time coming, good to get it out of the way.

- bench press coming along in rep strength. Now if i just nail the first rep syndrome, i will be laughing.

- FB pullups Wink

For me:

Starting strongman, and the learning curve that came with it. For me the best pbs have been the 95kg log press at the Edinburgh Strength Meet, the 130kg stone to 5ft platform and flipping the 420kg tyre.

More general pbs I have been very proud of were:

Push press - 2x2x102.5kg

Squat - 160kg - so f**king happy to finally make a pb with squats.

Bench - 137.5kg - nice milestone, not a very hard rep either.

Deadlifting 225kg was nice - took me three attempts to get it too Grin

Jonathon - your pushpresses are really great, especially if you consider just how f**king far the bar has to travel to get above your head Wink Tongue

Haha! Thanks littlegirlbunnny - I do try not to make the height excuse any more - after all Magnus Samuelsson is/was one of the best raw benchers in the world, and he is only a tiny bit shorter than me.

It doesn't make you look any less fat, but at least you get to be a lardass in proper assassin style!

At the start of the year, I had not attempted a bench or deadlift over 110kg, and had never squatted anything close to depth - I could maybe have got 100kg. So, there's been at least some progress...

IVe had a mixed bag this year. Everything went swimmingly until around May when the wheels feel off, I've been pretty inconsistent since. The things im happy about the most:

- 9 for 9 at the NW

- Raw 300lbs bench in comp

- 260kg deadlift in comp

The year isnt finished yet, but I doubt i'll do anything to add to the list.

Hmm, for me probably generally staying injury free and healthy has been a bonus, and progression has been pretty steady across the board. Put tons on my squat and deadlift, and started to build a decent base for future lifting. Individual stuff, probably 150kg squat, 90kg log, and 195kg deadlift.

Good work everyone, let the progression continue!

Got my arse into oly training which was the best thing i could have done.
Switched from half squatting to rock bottom's despite my numbers & ego going downUnhappy
Maxed out the big three for the first time in my life by june 06: 165/87.5/160.
Went way stronger on O.H. movements and pretty much everything.
Used to weight 65kg 36 months ago, now 76.5kg empty stomach in boxers.
