Ok guys I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about squatting and deadlifting twice a week. I've been giving it a go and the deadlifts are killing me. I've had an idea of low bar squatting m/w/f and only deadlifting once a month as I seem to be able to squat heavy numerous times a week with no problem.
My question is will my deadlift go down training it so infrequently?
I'm thinking the low bar squats will be plenty of stimulation for my posterior chain so I may even improve my deadlift. What do you guys think? Anybody not train deads until the day of the comp or once a month etc.?

What % of your 1rm are you using on the deadlifts?

On Tuesday I was working up to a single. This wasn't a max effort single, it was just a difficult single for that day, maybe 250-260. Friday was working in 5's up to around 200-220kg, basically just until I felt I was starting to have to work hard.

Do you do any other upper back work?

Could you just do some lighter on deadlifts weekly to keep your eye in on the form and then go heavy once a month?

Yeah. I do alot of upper back work. One arm db rows, t bar rows, shrugs, pulldowns, barbell rows etc.
Obviously not all at the same time, I normally pick 3 exercises to do after deadlift

I suppose I could but I really want to try squatting multiple times a week, I feel like I've got alot of room to improve in my squat if you know what I mean so I wanna prioritise that if I can without completely f**king up my deadlift.

I was thinking 3 weeks squatting m/w/f and then on the fourth week squat light on mon and fri and deadlift heavy on Wednesday.

Well if you're only pulling at 40-50% it should have minimal if no impact on heavy squatting.

I'd smash a bunch of partial deads. Squats and Partial Deads work well together.
