Have you been unlucky when it comes to injuries? Have you thought about starting back up your training journal? It would be great to have someone of my age, and similar weight and strength to follow!

Training

Squats

180 - paused at the bottom, fast on the way up.
220 - Very slow negative to atg(ish), easy.

Bench

8x120
5x120 - 2 second pauses to 2.5 inch board.
Negatives
2x160
2x170 - 7 second decent.

CG pull-downs

4x6
2x15

MP

3x10x60

My knees are starting to tell me that I should also be stretching more! What are you hoping to get in the comp?

quats

10x180 - Repetition PB. Not easy!

Close stance leg press

15x420 - Put some real effort into these, and my quads certainly felt said effort!

DE deads

2x220
2x230
3x220

Done. Really... Really done. "c**ted" would be a better expression of how I feel.

awesome rep pb similar to mine Happy i would of gone for 2.5kg pb`s, but i need to rest my leg and build back up slowly and i competed in december lol i hit a 647.5kg total at 86kg (well 87 on comp scales after breakfast) so i won`t be lifting in april.

lol that's not bad at all; when I competed in the west midlands, due to niggles and poor training, I only hit a 620kg total! Still won my category though haha.

Just noticed that I asked what you intended to lift, twice. Do'h.

How much time have you had off, all in all? I'm going to the Navy in April, and I'll be off training for 10 weeks! Really worried about the length of time that it will take to recover.

Squats

2x225 - PB. Very pleased with this, as I have only had one day's rest since squatting 180 for 10, and leg-pressing 420kg for 15.

DE Bench

9x3x80 - really focusing on 'benching efficiency' now.

Pull downs

3x8

Jerks

5x5x60 - Very light, as I want to nail the technique.

Incline DB bench

3x8

Just the Brits with the BDFPA. I go to the RN in April, so I wil not be training for 10 weeks. My assumption is that I will come out weak as piss, and require a substantial amount of time to recover. My guess is that I will be out of competition until the end of the year, at the very best.

Do you have anything lined up?

Just an u90 strongman comp next month for me. Then I have a few rugby games to play which will interfer with my training too much to think about any other comps.

I'm sure that you'll nail it, the way that you are going Happy
Has your strongman training helped with your rugby, at all?

I do have quite a poor memory at times! That's all you lost!? What exercises were you doing in their place? I went up to Rosyth for a 'taster' of the RN, and it was awesome. Most of it consisted of banter with all the new found comrades. I do hope that it wont affect me too much, as it would be amazing to still be able to take part in the Worlds in August(I think).

I haven't been posting because my training has been crap. Crap until today, that is!

Squats

140kg - Finally felt like nothing on my back.

Deads.

2x1x180 - Second was very fast.
220 - Fast
260 - Great
280 - Easy(for a max lift)!
I was meant to go for 290kg here, however, when I nipped to the loo, my mate (an ex world bench-press record holder) sneakily stuck an additional 7.5kg on, which brought the total to 297.5kg, which is 2.5kg over the current British record. So,
297.5kg - Fail, but only only just! I'm not shoving my hips through at the top, like I should be. Soon.

Training this week has told me that my recovery is not what it should be, to try and win the Brits, or break the squat, deadlift and total records. This being the case, I'm going to the Brits for one purpose, and one purpose alone - to be a British deadlift record holder.

Reps of 30? I didn't even know that such high reps existed? Recently found out that I may be able to do my own training whilst going through basic, so Augusts World championships may still be a possibility.

Still haven't had that bas***d 297.5. Went for 295kg today (with a cold, s**t-all sleep, and more excuses) but missed it literally by a 2 inches from lock-out. I HATE my lockout strength, mainly because it doesn't exist! Don't suppose you have any tips for it, by any chance?
