I've actually competed in BDFPA for the last five years - not in Scotland, because I lived in England - at British and international level. I've decided not to compete with them in 2012 for two reasons. I'll not get selected for GBPF Masters teams if I compete internationally with WDFPF; and living this far away it's going to be hard enough to compete often enough in one fed, farless two. As you say, there's a lot of good lads in BDFPA, just a pity the politics doesn't allow us all to lift under the one umbrella. Surprised I never ran into Joe> Maybe because I only did single lifts?

Yeah it's unfortunate everything is so divided, if everyone in Scotland competed together in one federation there would be really good competition in pretty much all the weight classes, perhaps one day lol.

I'm pretty sure Joe is a bench press only competitor but I honestly don't know if he has ever competed outwith comps in Scotland.

Lats and Biceps in Steve's Garage. He has an excellent lat machine that he bought from the sports centre many years ago when it upgraded. Just getting the feel of it today, so...

10 reps with 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 plates
8 reps with 13
7 with 14
6 with 15
5 with 16

Preacher Curls - 5 sets of 10 with 30 Kg (10 a side on a 10 Kg EZ Bar)
Facepulls - 5 sets of 10 with 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 plates.

Bench tomorrow at mine, deads Monday at Steve's. Getting it done...

Bench, my place, with Steve

Bar for 20
40 for 10
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2
130 for 1
140 for 1
150 for 1
160 for 1
145 for 3, 3, 2, 2, 2
135 for 4
125 for 6
115 for 8
105 for 10.

The lack of reps in recent weeks has taken its toll on my strength endurance. Checked my new bar markings with a measuring tape today and found it was way too wide. What I thought was pinkie grip was in fact second finger grip. Sorted now, might partially explain last Sunday's performance. Deadlifts tomorrow, first time in several weeks.

Yes-ish. Second finger feels more natural than pinkie. Now my shoulder is just about ok, think I'll stick to that for the time being.

Deadlift at Steve's

Not deadlifted for weeks, so a combination of a strength test and a sensible first one back. Steve has these flat-sided hexagonal plates which I couldn't roll towards me as I lifted. Never realised how much I relied on this before.

70 for 8
100 for 5
130 for 2
150 for 1 (nearly lost balance forward, so very 'backy' to get it up)
170 for 1 - on my limit
150 for 2
130 for 3
100 for 5.

All in all, not too bad for the first one back with awkward weights.

Cheers mate. See ANOTHER pb today from you! Getting closer and closer... I don't mind you overtaking me, as long as it doesn't happen because I go backwards Wink

Not many deadlift goals Neil, except to carry on doing the lift for as long as I can. I know the day will come when my knee just won't let me do it any more. My ultimate goal was to do 200 and I got that in February. 205 would be nice as that would be 450 lbs, but it just makes me feel better and it's a health and wellbeing thing as much as anything else. Happy Hope that wasn't too cheesy?

Bench at my place with Tom

Bar for 20
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2
140 for 1.

Loose Rage X 50 on and

160 for 3 - to about 4 inches
180 for 1 - to about 1 inch
190 - fail - needed a slight touch.

Shirt off and

145 for 3
135 for 5
125 for 7
115 for 9
105 for 12.

Not too unhappy with today. First time in a shirt for well over four months, and reckon I'm good for 185 in the loose shirt worn too high. Used raw technique, remembered afterwards!! Good base to build from Happy.

Fatburning

Walk on beach
Walk round Strawberry Hill
12 holes of golf
Bit of housework.

It's tough, but someone's got to do it.

Bench at mine with Steve and Tom

Bar for 20
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2
140 for 2.

Loose shirt

160 for 3 (4 inches) - easy
180 for 2 (2 inches) - easy
190 for 1 - fail. Got it about 3 inches from lockout and it just stuck!!

Shirt off

160 for 2 to 4 inches (2nd really hard)
160 for 2 to 4 inches (really easy)
160 for 2 to 4 inches (easy, but failed attempt at third).

Pleased with the way the 180 for 2 flew up, pleased with the speed of the 190 off the chest, baffled by the fail at lockout. Obviously all the raw work has robbed me of lockout strength, plan to do raw board work regularly, plus my new bands arrive any day now. Good training buzz today. First time the three of us have trained together.
