With more people wanting to compete now as decission has been made

We will start the Over 105's at 10:00AM, run log then deadlift both head-head (allowing 2 hours incase we have 20+ entrants) and cut the field to top 10 or 12 after those 2 events.
The Over 105's then get a break while we do the same for the U105's between 12:00PM and 14:00PM (the under 105's can weight in from 10:00-12:00PM)
So once we have worked out the positions we will have 20-24 people left.
We will then run the last 3 (gonna have to cut truck pull for this to work) events as normal from 14:30PM onwards.

This way we can re-open application until mid-march time, and everyone gets a shot at qualifying

Wouldn’t a far more easier / fairer way would be to have another Comp the week after / before allowing each competitor to compete in each event? Say you have 25+ guys you miss out on a top 12 spot by 1 or 2 reps each event.....nightmare.

This whole event looked wicked and have grown steadly in size since a couple of years ago, but to pay to compete + petrol and travelling time to miss the cut and not get to smash the medley / kegs or stones??? and with no one getting to pull the truck at all..

This is a qualifier for a national comp, it's purpose is to find the strongest 5 guys from the south.
While in a ideal world everyone would get to do all 6 events the level of interest makes that immposible.
This is a much fairer way than turning people away, it will ruin it for people who weren't chasing a qualifying spot, but should ensure the strongest go through to the final.

Its reasonable to make a cut but its a shame the guys can't do the medley before the cut as it includes 3 classic strongman events in the yoke, tyre flip and farmers. Including the medley would give the guys a really fair crack rather than using two static events.

seems a shame to make the cut after 2 events, some lads will have travelled a fair distance to compete, maybe the cut could be after 3 events and include another "classic strongman" event, if the medley takes too long just have a heavier farmers or yoke as a single event. I also agree with Ben's point about not just having static events to decide the cut.

or, so everyone gets a crack at almost everything, could the events not be spilt with the over 105's doing 2 events and the under 105's doing the other 2 events, then they swop over (like in the final last year) then a cut is made and everyone that makes the cut finishes on the stones?

it is about finding the strongest competitors but it's also about growing the sport as well and being competitor friendly. Not criticising just suggesting, I am fully aware of the difficulties that organisers face and the critisism they receive, it is often a thankless task.

We are accepting entries until mid-march (exact date to follow)once we know how many people are registered and paid up we can look at adjusting things slightly. We want everyone to get the most out of this as possible, without losing focus on the comps purpose.
If numbers allow us to fit a 3rd event in pre-cut then thats what we'll do.

Seems like a sensible approach. At the end of the day you aren't going to keep everyone happy.

If people approach me they can put on a regional qualifier in 2012 as this is not going away and gaining more structure along the way.

The deadline for this comp is March 11th, all entry forms and payments should be in for then.

I've sent an email but have yet to receive an entry form. I'll send another one tonight just to make sure.
