Member 1705, 104 posts | Post Edited: 13.11.2010 @ 11:57 AM by smuk SMUK Deadlift challenge 2010Thank you for registering your interest in the 2010 Deadlift challenge. Below you will find information on the event and other important factors. If you wish to ask any questions on the event before the day, feel free to contact us on info@strongmanuk.co.uk or post on our forum at www.strongmanuk.co.uk Alternatively, feel free to text me (Scott Matthews) on 07837984948 Time Competitors are to arrive at the leisure centre for 10.30am to register, be weighed and complete any necessary paperwork. Event will start at 11-11.30am. Location The event will take place at Leicester Leys Leisure Centre, LE4 1DS (reception - 0116 2333070), on the 27th November 2010. It will be held weather permitting on the patio area at the front of the centre, or in the downstairs area of the gym. Report to reception when you arrive and they will point you in our direction. Car Parking Located next to the centre is Beaumont shopping complex, please use their car parking facilities which are free of charge. Medical clearance form As part of the agreement to use the facilities, all entrants must fill in a health profiling form. The centres insurance policy means anybody who answers yes to one of the 12 questions has to gain a doctor’s clearance form to use their facilities. IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL ISSUES CONTACT ME IN ADVANCE First aid Should anybody require it there are numerous first aiders present in the competition, as well as on site. Personal belongings Should the day be dry and able to hold the event outside, we will use the centres bar area as a lounge for all competitors to relax in-between lifts and store personal kit. Should it be wet, the event will move indoors where space is tight. You can keep your personal belongs with you if you wish, or there are lockers which take £1 that you can also use. NOTE: If you decide not to use the lockers, you are fully responsible for your own belongings. Competing area The judge(s) have full control of the area be it indoors or out. Judges/Helpers Their decision is final. Do exactly as they say and you can’t go wrong. If you aren’t sure on anything, ask before you lift, don’t wait then say you didn’t know. Language Let’s do our best to keep it as clean as possible as kids may be present. Photography/video Take it as a given that pictures will be taken. Video footage may also be taken. Warming up You are responsible for warming up. Once all competitors are present an order of lift sheet will be made and handed out so you can see when your turn to lift is. When the judge calls your name, it is to perform your lift. We want to make sure the day runs smoothly and with minimal fuss, so try and stick to this. Qualification lifts The under 90kg group will lift first, followed by the under 105kg, then 105+. First up, all competitors will complete 75 seconds on the Olympic bar for reps. Once all are through, the axle will be set up, and the above will repeat itself. All supports are allowed for these lifts, but no hand wear is allowed, only chalk. The top 5 lifters per group will qualify for the final. NOTE : If for whatever reason a group is short of numbers, this rule will be changed so the top 3 enter the final. Olympic bar Under 90kg – 170kg Under 105kg – 185kg Over 105kg – 200kg Axle Under 90kg – 155kg Under 105kg – 170kg Over 105kg – 185kg Final The final switches to a 1RM last man standing lift off with the axle. As above, the under 90s will perform their lifts until the winner is decided, then under 105s, then 105+. Full supports are allowed PLUS straps are allowed. NOTE: Anybody wishing to have a shot at the best pound for pound title is welcome to have a go, regardless of if they finish in the top 5(3). Technique No variations allowed. Prizes 3 trophies for each weight category champ. One pound for pound champion One Strongman UK Deadlift champion max lift Lifting Qualifying lifts - you will be informed by the judge when your 75 seconds is due to start. At all times you must lift to the judge’s command’s, of which he will clarify on the day. No touch and go lifts will be allowed, full re-sets only. All lifts must be returned to the floor under control. Anybody dropping the bar deliberately or letting it slam to the ground will have that lift disallowed. No variations of the deadlift will be allowed, standard technique only. All supports are allowed for all lifts. Qualifiers – All supports allowed. ONLY chalk on hands, nothing else. Final lifts – As above with the exception that straps are allowed too. All of the above is of course subject to change, but that is highly unlikely! I look forward to seeing you there, Scott Matthews Strongman UK | ||
