You could enter the university championships as a guest in November (20/21 Nov I think). It will be held in Oxford.

colossal said:may go and watch the comp next weekend at Woking, thats not far from me! the Kent Surrey and Sussex meeting.

so if i am reading this correctly from the website:

Junior / Under 23: from 1 January in the calendar year you reach 21 years and throughout the full calendar year in which you reach 23 years.

then i am an U23 right up until december 31st 2011???

Yes you're under 23 until the end of the year of your 23rd birthday.

thats great then.. why are the records so.. unimpressive? is it because of the amount of people that go equipped when they get to a certain standard? or is the gbpf not the strongest really?

i am going to the competition this weekend in woking to observe and hopefully compete soon to at least take the deadlift record, that seems easiest!

Get competing, break the records then you can call them what you like Happy

Those records are solid enough for a drug free U23 class. Sure they're bound to be guys out there that can break em but so far...

BDFPA has the stronger unequipped division than GBPF. GBPF is an equipped fed foremost. Off course to many powerlifting is equipped.

To be fair those unequipped records have only been around for a few years, and as carl said most of the juniors lift equipped now. I imagine Guy djedje could break all of those any day of the week.

Any vids of your lifts colossal? I'd be interested to see.Happy

i should have expected that question, you only have to have a quick glance at other forums to see how these threads normally turn out!

This. The GBPF's equipped records (especially in the opens) are tough to beat because people have been setting them for so long whereas the unequipped is fairly new.

Excellent lifting and you can see how tall you are when you are in the power rack you make it look small !

I think you have potential mate.

cheers mate! squatting to parallel or atg is a long way down! will need a lot of tweaking for my bench to get near my pb in competition though - ass on bench etc, i imagine im only good for 150ish at the moment.

well i went down to the woking youth centre today and watched the morning lifting.. the juniors first which were impressive alone and then the masters/open squat; someone with a fairly meaty 270 raw squat!

great experience and i can definitely see myself lifting soon!

edit: where can i get a singlet to wear for when i compete?
Avatarmarc
four new records in the 110 juniors yesterday, 235 squat, 170 bench, 265 deadlift and 645 total. singlet...strengtshop
