That looks a decent gym. Am I right in thinking you train somewhere out Barnsley way Paul?

Hello mate,

I normally train in my garage, but that was Temple Gym in wombwell.

It's a good gym but the floor where the power cage is located is very uneven.

Damon (the owner) is also a top bloke!

The squat was high, about 4'' off depth i think. I reckon you've got a 250kg in you to full depth. Also, even though he isn't helping, having someone's hands infront of you like that can stop you from leaning forwards which is how most squats are failed.

The bench looked spotted. Even if he is not actually pulling upwards hands on the bar can stop the bar from drifting forwards/towards your face and so on (think smith machine).

Like Iain, i don't like like any lifts where hands are on the bar. If someone touches it, it's not even a 'gym max', it's a failed lift.

You are f**king strong though, and i'm sure you will hit these numbers soon enough, and then do it in competition. Personally i'd be more impressed with seeing a nice 250kg squat to depth and a 150kg bench without any spotting.

Hello Mate,

I appreciate the comments and I think the squat was a little high, but no way was it 4" high....

I've also squatted 255kg in competition in April this year and I am definitely stronger now. The next time I attempt 265kg it will get nailed nice and deep.

The bench I agree with - but I'm sure 155kg is there. 150 flew up before it and I've benched 150 5 times (singles) in my last few bench sessions.

Cheers

Macca

255 raw in competition at your BW is big!

I think that the weight should not determine the depth you take a squat to. When trying a squat PB i always bury it as deep as i do my warmups, if i cut it short (even if it's still parallel) i don't know if i've got stronger or if it's just 1-2'' higher.

Looking forward to seeing a video of a buried 260kg squat. I'mn sure it won't take you long!
