comp report:
400kg frame deadlift: I went into this resigned to the fact it'd be a no repper but totally suprised myself and got 4 reps so needless to say a was fukckin over the moon. Grin

Arm over arm tractor pull: fook me this was hard, it was a 2 inch thick rope and after 3 pulls my grip gave up not sure how far i moved it but it wasn't far placed 2nd last Unhappy

120kg Log Press: i went into this hoping for 6-7 reps as i had had 5 in training but i really struggled with the size of it and it threw me off balance i ended up getting 5 reps and placed mid table.

Medley; 140kg farmers and 20m tyre flip: the less said about this event the better, after having a whitey and throwing up the content of my stomach minutes before i was due out i failed to pick up the farmers and my event was over!
at this point my head was f**ked an i was all ready to pack up and go home i'd had enough. Unhappy

350kg yoke: this was supposed to be may weak event but f**k knows what happened i pick the f**ker up and off i went flew down the course with a personal best time of 16seconds i placed third on this which left me in 4th place going into the final event Grin

atlas stones: 5 stones 115kg-135kg-155kg-175kg-200kg (loaded onto the back of flat bed truck)this was my best event by a country mile, i one motioned the first 3 stones up then easily loaded the 175kg in a time of 16 seconds i then attempted the 200kg monster, i broke it from the floor but couldn't quite manage to lap it not that it mattered i won the event nearest to me on this event was rich smith with 4 in 22 seconds.Grin

a really up and down day for me but i was really pleased with my final placing

Firstly, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the competitors that participated yesterday. It was a long old day but - dare I say it - a success! With no prior experience in running a comp, let alone a National, I felt that we managed to tick the necessary boxes in terms of venue, event structure, audio/spectator involvement etc. As with anything like this, and for those of you that have tried to run large scale comps throughout the country, waking up this morning, (a shadow of my former self), I can't help but analyse how we could have improved on the day's proceedings.

Below are the final competitor positions and points scored by the individuals...

1st Dale Norris - 54pts
2nd Richard Smith - 50pts
3rd Owen Lewis - 40pts
4th Simon Johnston - 33pts
5th Richie Allen - 28.5pts
6th Ryan Foreshaw - 26.5pts
7th Shane Evans - 24.5pts
Joint 8th Richard Lewis & Rob Bush - 22.5pts

Ross Stone retired from competition after attempting event 4 suffering with a mild concussion and a burst blood vessel around the temple that bled through his hair in event 1. Even though Ross had only completed 3 events he still scored an impressive 21pts which just goes to show how different the final placings would have been had Ross not have had to withdraw prematurely. Ross was nominated for the Warrior Award by his fellow competitors for his fighting spirit in the face of insurmountable odds. Well done mate.

It really was an up & down day for many competitors including myself as the figures above show that there was only 6 points separating 5 athletes - from Richie Allen's 28.5pts to myself and Richard Lewis' 22.5pts. Just one more meter or one more rep from any us who placed in the lower end of the table could have thrown up a completely different set of results, but that's Strongman for you I suppose!!!

A solid performance from the top three but a big congratulations to Dale who took his fourth title yesterday. A cracking and near perfect performance by the big man and I'm sure that Dale will give the English, Scottish and Irish athletes something to worry about when he represents his country in Belfast this year.

A good day for Strongman in Wales and we hope that yesterday will form the necessary building blocks so that next year we have a bigger and better competition with more athletes, sponsors, spectators and the like.

Thanks again to everyone
