I'm sick and tired of tomatoes - getting about a kilo a day.

Daikon radishes seem to be growing well in their trays, might plant them out next weekend.

Beets in the ground just before the big rain, all seem to have settled in well.

Red Meat radishes just gone into a planter, given them a bit more space as they're supposed to go up to tennis ball size.

Kohlrabi seem to be growing finally - about the size of a grapefruit. They're the monster variety so I'm going to let them get to roughly pineapple size.

First lot of Spanish Black radishes that I planted didn't germinate, but the ones where I pulled the plant out and hung it for a week seem to have produced seeds at around 95% viability, which is great!

Fennel was a flop - almost literally. Some have gone to seed, some have BARELY gotten fatter, and look like they're going to go to seed.

Sunflower has stopped dead in its tracks - not gained any height, but opened a flower which is growing well. The others are slowly getting taller.

Be interesting to see how they plump up. we have started netting ours, the biggest being approx 12inches across. We intend to save some of the seeds fro the biggest for next years crop.

Hey Adam.

hope you are holding up alright mate.

Yea, I think most people at least smell a rat. Many are aware something terrible is in motion and a few of us, awake.

This is a good article. It details privatisation of seed cooperatives in the developing worlds bread baskets. How this lead to unaffordable prices for small hold farms to grow food to feed themselves. This then causes dependency on single subsidised crops which makes land infertile due to over farming in non traditional ways. Then you need industrial fertilizer...
https://consortiumnews.com/2022/08/18/the-system-is-causing-food-crisis-not-the-war/

There is also a good article linked in that one about vegetarian meats and the further industrialisation of what we eat. The movie Silent Green was set in 2022 at the epoch of a mega famine caused by drought.
50% of US West is in drought.
Northern Africa, and Southern Africa is in drought right now.
Central South America is in drought right now.
Europe is (Definitely f**ked) in drought right now. Lots of industry is stuttering due to lack of water cooling from Aluminium in Slovakia to Nuclear production in France to factories that can't get oils and materials up the Rhine. Food prices rocketing due to lack of traditional river irrigation options and smaller harvest.
Bangladesh and Western India are in drought right now.
Southern China is facing an extreme heat wave depleting rivers and reservoirs…

Thanks Danny Happy

On the subject of cash, I had some bother with an ATM a few days ago. The money was deducted from my account, but the cash failed to appear. I was most upset. After 2 phone calls (and being on hold for over half an hour) I managed to get my money refunded 3 days later. Not a nice feeling Unhappy

Hi Luki, thanks for the link.

Whereas I totally disagree that global warming (now called climate change) is responsible for food crisis. I did lift this part of the link bellow:

'These small farmer movements are up against “Big Philanthropy,” such as the controversial Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is replicating the Green Revolution corporate-first strategy'.

The only way we beat the f00d crisis is to recognise its root cause: the world economic forum or 'Spectre in plain sight' as I like to refer to them. Once weve all recognised whats really happening we can form parallel societies and trade with each other outside of the system, in peace.

Alternatively...distopia and more of the new normal.

Ive obviously already chosen which side Im on.

Had the same thing a few years back. Even though the machine swallowed my cash as i was to slow to take it...still had to wait to prove it was mine.

Tory leadership: Rishi Sunak criticises Covid lockdown response

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62664537

To quote:

Speaking to the Spectator, Mr Sunak insisted he did not want to blame individuals but said he believes a series of mistakes were made by ministers during the pandemic.

He said ministers were not given enough information to scrutinise analysis produced by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) - a group of independent experts advising the government.

"We shouldn't have empowered the scientists in the way we did," he is quoted as saying.

In his interview, Mr Sunak also hit out at campaign posters showing Covid patients on ventilators, saying it "wrong" to "scare people".

The re-discovery of hunger stones certainly points that drought is a reoccurring event in Europe. It would be interesting for them to study the area around the hunger stones to see how long the drought lasted and how regularly the stones became visible over the centuries while the water is low and the bank examinable. I suspect this would contradict some climate science orthodoxy about this being a one off climate crisis. Unfortunately this means any discovery is likely to be screamed down as fake news no matter how good the scientific evidence.

I think that after enduring the plague of China-like censorship we have recently endured within the 'free West'...As much as it pains me to say it - you are correct sir.

Just picked a large gala melon. Was a tad over ripe but the kids all enjoyed it. The cape gooseberries just keep giving and I strongly recommend this robust, high yielding and highly nutritious plant.

Been clearing out ready to start again. We have emptied the tomatoes out and what was left was on its last legs and has been composted.

I built a brick shuttering ready to pour concrete next week for my distilery shed base. Also digging out footings for a brick shed 10 x 12 which I hope to have built by xmass (tool and garden stuff like netting store).

All good really.

Heard this the other day...First time I really listened to the lyrics...It is said that he was onto those who formed the wef long before they did - no wonder they assassinated him.

Oh, and pears and cooking apples ready to harvest...
