Sunday, 21st January, start 12:30

A smattering of snow today, also some sleet and some rain and rather windy as well, someone has slid into the central reservation of the M61 which slowed thing up rather. Altogether a rather unpleasant day weather-wise

I am happy to report that the friend of the club did appear, probably yesterday and the toilet is now unblocked

Just Glynn, Aaron, Respectable Ian and me to day

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
all paused now
90 x 2
90 x 2
90 x 2
90 x 2
90 x 2
90 x 2
All very reasonable and they troubled the shoulder very little but I did notice on the way home that the shoulder is now troubled rather more than it once was by changing gear in the car.

Most unlikely to be down before about 620 tomorrow even if I'm not too full of cold (currently hopeful), so I suspect I shan't see you before Wednesday, amigo.
AvatarFatpete
I will probably have gone by then or at the very least be on the way out.

Cold is drying up nicely, bit of a cough but not too bad. Still tending to sleep a lot, so a bit of play it by ear tonight

Monday, 22nd January, start 16:00

Not as cold tonight and not many down either, just me, Mack, Amy, Brooke and Louise. It ain't many when you can remember them all.

Squat, very raw, boots and sleeves on
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
belt on
60 x 3
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
160 x 2
180 x 1
190 x 3
These took rather a long time tonight and I am unsure as to why. The shoulder didn't trouble me as much during the actual stretching back and grabbing the bar, but a shade more than usual afterwards on the way home. However there is good news on the knees, the aching almost stopped some time back but there was always clunkin' a plenty, well tonight there really wasn't much of that either. Amy depth-nazied for me and pronounced them all well in and the last was the best. Happy days, the corner may have yet to be turned but the brakes are applied and we have dropped a gear as we are most certainly approaching it.

Deadlift, sleeves and boots still on
60 x 3
100 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
Still nothing from the knees Excellent night's training, I say my goodbyes and away into a not too cold night, made it home in time for Emmerdale as well.

Wednesday, 24th January, start 16:30

Late start as I was chatting to one of the neighbours, he has a garage next to the club and during the warmer times he potters. I always make a point of chatting to him as one should keep relations of this nature in good order plus he is a very interesting chap with many a tale to tell. Half an hour well spent.

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
105 x 5
110 x 5
This last one was a bit of a shock, it took an age to do the last rep and it was much harder than I had expected. The shoulder is still giving trouble but not as much as it once did. This time next week it will have been physioed, so even if it isn't fixed we should know more

Close grip
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8
And that will do, more down tonight. Four powerlifters and five weightlifters. As I was leaving I noticed that of the five weightlifters only two were actually doing anything of a weightlifting nature, the other three were sat, gossiping and sipping water. Some would say that they were discussing training matters and were considering what next to do. I will not lie gentle reader, they weren't - it was persiflage, plain and simple.

And I've never known you to wander around the club indulging in verbiage, old friend. It would be shocking behaviour.

I may or may not be in on Friday, as I remain infected. I shan't on Monday, as I have to work. Play nicely in my absence Wink.

Heaven forfend. I would never dream of such a thing. That doesn't mean that I have not done it nor that I would not happily do it again. It means only that it is absent from my dreams. I could have been a politician. There is art in misleading truths

As do I. Thursday night is cancelled for a second time. One has to consider the ladies in this. It is probably never that pleasant to be "that" close to me ever. But if one of them were to turn up spluttering and sneezing as I am now, I would instantly think "She shouldn't be working in that state" Therefore I should not be expecting them to put up with me in "that" state. It would be ungentlemanly and I have many faults but I do try and be a gentleman.

Hoist by my own petard I believe. However hopes are high that come this time next week things will be very different.

Exactly, who do they think they are ? Me ?

Got in tonight about four, made myself a cup of tea and sat down to watch tipping point, slept through it but awoke to switch over to watch pointless, slept through that too. Managed to remain conscious though Eggheads, mainly because I was eating. If training was as easy as sleeping I would be really good at something
AvatarRick
My usual excellent sleep is disrupted by the cough I've got, hence my struggles. See you Wednesday. I hope and expect.
