Anyway back to topic, I think Tom stoltman could make podium by his third appearance. He's unlucky to have such a tough group this year or I'd say he'd stand a chance of making the final

Love tom and think he has a bright future but its not bad luck he has a tough group, he is a 4-6th in group seed so he was always gonna get 3 really good guys.

Yea fair point. Bad choice of words I guess.
Good luck at worlds, I see it being a good year for Brits and a very memorable final

I recall Magnus Samuelson coming last on his first WSM final? then smashing it a year or two later.

Made his debut in 1995 as a skinny legged arm wrestler. Was very lucky with the events he had in his heat (including arm wrestling!) and made the final. Came last. I thought his fire engine pull was quite decent though. He was the lightest guy and came 6th in that event.

1996 - didn't do very well at all. Didn't make the final.

1997 - came 3rd in the final.

1998 - winner Happy

I thought the 1998 final was a bit s**t though. Events were too light.

The best approach it seems is just to ignore them and move on.

No use trying to discuss things with someone who doesnt honor their word.

Really looking forward to WSM this year. Think Shaw has to be favourite but wouldnt take a lot for a few others to win if things went there way.

Looking at Loz, terry, eddie etc Britain could have three people in top five. Great to see Terry come on here and give insiders input - unfortunately of late theres too much speculation and also too much negativity for what is a small niche sport. Go to a local comp everyones friendly and helpful to each other - look on here and everyone appears back stabbing and nasty towards each other which is a shame

Magnus was strong as heck and claimed he was a drug free athlete.

Is Z participating or not? I'm hoping, praying, but I don't think he will.

EDIT: I mean, I know he's in group 5, but he'll probably "fake" an injury and be taken out.

Magnus could barely deadlift 700 pounds or squat 600lbs. He was a good bencher and mover of medium heavy weights. He would not qualify for a final today.

No he would'nt.

But what he was good at he was great at back in the day. Great stone lifter, truck puller,
awesome stone carrier/ Con wheel. Some very strong arms and grip that man had/has.

Id imagine today's wsm final squat weight would have folded him even at his peak though!

Pretty sure Magnus put some great event performances in WSM 2004. I remember him closing down on Pudz.

Loal, I'm a big Samuelsson fan Danny. I just wish his win had been in a better/heavier final. We could have done those events! Happy

Thats Ed at 23 push pressing 140x9. Tom is an awesome athlete and especially good at pressing given hes so tall

Edd Hall would have been world class strongman if he slowly and steadily progressed up to 170kg.

Those late 90s WSM were a joke in many respects. Ahola was legit strong. Most of rest were leagues away from modern athletes.
