Member 5964, 573 posts SQ 240, BP 160, DL 265665.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq | Seeing as it's virtually the new year and I'm just getting started into strongman, I figured it'd be appropriate to start up a training log on here. Just entered a novice comp in February, events are: Log press - 90kg for reps Atlas stones - 90kg for reps over yoke Squat - 3 attempts for max Farmers walk into sled pull medley - 100kg farmers into 120kg sled Yoke walk - 220kg Events seem pretty comfortable for me, think I can manage all the weights right now and I've still got 8-9 weeks to get stronger! Only one that worries me slightly is yoke as I've never actually done any yoke training. Starting best lifts are: Squat - 190kg Deadlift - 210kg Strict press - 80kg Push press - 97.5kg Bench press - 125kg Looking to improve on these massively in 2016 and enter some bigger comps in the process | ||

Lower back was fatigued going in from heavy deadlifts a couple of days ago, will make sure to get more rest in between deads & squats next time. 200kg+ will fall in 9 weeks! | ||

Thanks, yeah I reckon a few sessions with the yoke and that weight should be alright for me. Thinking about going to yorkshire strongman training for some practice with the events | ||

Deadlifts were easy (had 2-3 reps in the tank every set) and got some good back assistance work in afterwards. Best ever set of 5 is 180kg, hope to hit that for a 5x5 soon. | ||

Overhead strength is really starting to come on, can probably rep my current 80kg max as it stands | ||

First 2-3 sets were super easy, last 2 were quite hard but still not to failure. Also need to avoid the gym at peak times, was ridiculously busy today so I couldn't get on the platform, had to pull from the very spongy gym floor which wasn't ideal. Thinking about doing England's strongest junior in June, so trying to really build my deadlift up in the background for that. | ||
