'There was also a sausage in my mouth.' Member 2477, 16481 posts SQ 190, BP 130, DL 235555.0 kgs @ 83kgs UnEq | if one attends a powerlifting competition as a spectator, surely they are there because they want to watch people squatting, benching and deadlifting. If the music that is played is the determining factor for whether they are bored to the point of falling asleep or enjoying it enough to be there, then this is a very unusual situation and maybe they should consider spending the time doing something else instead

If so how much are people making from it in the UK? You could say that for a lot of sports where people compete at a high level not just powerlifting There are lifters in the ipf who are fully funded athletes and probably get paid more than some of our gb Olympic squad athletes this country has sport and sport funding very low on its priority list Winning a trophy appeals to most but winning a title with high credibility seems to appeal to few

Tbh every fed has its moments in this regard, its always cool to rip on the tested feds tbh but they have some top lads and its a friendly environment just the same as any other comp, Ive seen more buried squat, paused bench and non hitched deadlifts than I have not legit lifts tbh....if you've been and seen the comps these feds put on themselves fair enough, if u haven't maybe your better sticking your head in a blender on full power? btw to me the IPF is the premier fed, a world title in the IPF would be the pinnacle of any powerlifters career imo.

No one believed him anyway. Member 958, 11411 posts SQ 410, BP 215, DL 4251050.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Now that I've trained and can be a little bit more assed talking about this....again... There's a huge trend at the moment with people adopting the attitude of being fine with people lifting however they please and in whichever fed they please because it's just a bit of fun and nobody takes powerlifting seriously anyway so what's the big deal. Well, in my opinion, the big deal is some serious powerlifters want the sport to be taken seriously, and on a large scale level it can only be taken seriously if it is IPF (and classic, not equipped, but that's another matter). I feel that by participating in all your other versions of powerlifting "just for fun", you are actively harming the credibility of the most legitimate and globally respected form of powerlifting. Maybe not to lifters and other people in the know, but to the people who you need to explain why there are 6 world record holders in the same weight and age class for the same lift, who all lift in the same gym? It's a f**king mess, no wonder nobody cares about it. It might seem harmless to just keep lifting wherever you have the most fun, because no one takes it seriously anyway so why should you bother... but some of us would like to see this change, and you are contributing to organisations that are preventing powerlifting from gaining any credibility.
