Thanks, Will. Just getting in two (preferably three) sessions a week on 'big' movements is paying off at the moment. And yeah, I'm particularly happy about my overhead improvements.

But, I'm planning to improve much more yet - starting with the two goals listed under my journal.

Yeah, you look like you're making some solid improvements, so keep it up!

Thanks again, Jonny. This is what I should have been doing several years ago but at least I'm doing it now.

It's never too late! I firmly believe most people can get stronger well into their forties, so go for it!

It certainly seems to be a sport that suits older folks. Cheers for the encouragement.

25/10/13

Deadlifts

Warmups then...
232.5 kg x 2
232.5 kg x 2 - the second rep was harder than it 'should have been'
233.5 kg x 2 - added an extra kilo as a token gesture

They were all harder than they should have been but...

Front Squats

Warmups then...
120 kg x 2
120 kg x 2
120 kg x 2

Pendlay Rows

Upto 125 kg x 3

Edit: I managed to hurt my left biceps with those rows. I'm icing the area now, hoping that there isn't too much damage.
AvatarPete
My arm/biceps recovered quite nicely but I was extremely busy throughout most of this week.

31/10/13

Dragonboat training - about 1.5 hours on the water; most of it working hard. I've only recently started with this sport but I love it.

01/11/13

Deadlifts

182.5 kg x 20 - quite comfortable, I think that I'll use 200 kg when I next aim for 20 reps.

Split Jerks

Light weights x lots

Hopefully I'll get more training in next week.

Comfortable? Did you not feel sick after that? 200 would be pretty ridiculous for 20. It's my goal for 10.

Do you remember your 100 rep set, with 140 was it? You were f**kED after that. FatPete did not approve when you walked outside into the freezing cold after, drenched in sweat, in just your t-shirt...

I'm not trying to play a 'hardman', yesterday's 20 reps were quite easy - I was surprised as I predicted that I'd feel like quitting after 15. I'm not that great with singles, doubles and triples but I have decent endurance on sets in the 10-20 range.

I'm a bit embarrassed about the '100-rep set' as it was only 100 kg - unfortunately. You're right, I was completely f**ked from that - I was in very poor shape. I do remember that FatPete disapproved of 'something'. I'll trust you that you've remembered the correct reason. Wink

I'll get 200 kg x 20 on Youtube (and here) before the end of November.

I remember being entertained by your 100x100 video! 200x20 would be cool.

Lol. I suppose that it was a bit amusing but, in hindsight, it was pretty poor as an 'achievement' - especially considering how tough I found it.

HOWEVER, I'd like to think that 200x20 would be half decent.

Couldn't resist! Grin

Hard to believe that was 6 years ago!
AvatarPeteHodgson
Lol. That's frickin mental Pete! Ha ha.
AvatarPete
f**k you, Sparrow Wink

I was hoping that video was no longer around.

It's just increased my resolve to (partially) redeem myself; by completing 200 kg for 20. No touch and go reps, this time, either.

I'm going to have a go on Wednesday. Happy

(In fact, I think that I'll watch that video immediately prior to the attempt.)
