But some getting a few reps....some getting about 5 reps and winner getting about 8 seems about right. Hate seeing it when it goes 10+...deadlift at Europe's for example.

Can't see anyone getting 10 @ 150 tbh

Only because of the clean part....I think if they put it to 160kg it will become more of a pressing event. You, Ed and Obearst will toy with the 150kg and become an endurance test.
I am in the camp that prefers everything heavier. Likes to see around 5-6 reps win a repping event. Don't mind 7-9 and understand why it happens...hate to see 10+

Great, let's make it 180kg for reps then.

Too heavy for this comp(I know you're joking)...at Arnold's I would actually agree, maybe even 190kg. I think for WSM 170-175kg for reps would be good for the final.

If you go too heavy you'll get too many split points. There needs to be a good spread of reps.
When we did 157 at wsm I got 4th on log with 5 so I think 160 is too much for this comp. a genuine 150 is plenty. 160 you'd have guys standing around not lifting for at least 20 secs of the time

I really hope someone does 10 reps now that you said that marc lol
If you want my opinion if hix or ed are on top form and cardio fit I don't see ten being an impossibility

Ed got 6 on 145 the at englands, didnt look comfy, but i dont think he was on top form. So maybe 7/8 if hes better at brits.. But i cant see ten

I know this isn't clean and press...but he does do it with fair amount of ease. Hence why I said I would prefer it heavier and more of a test of upper body strength. Lots of endurance tests in this comp as it is.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rezazP9xd_0
Take into accounts ed's PB is 191kg...Hix has now done 200kg twice in training at least and Oberst has a 200kg log in comp from a year ago and will have probably improved.
But then again it isn't the arnold's or WSM so weights should be lighter.

Big difference between clean and press and off the chest though. For me log should always be clean and press as strongman is supposed to test the whole body. Going heavier seeing guys doing 1-4 reps is boring as s**t for the crowd

I think I'm safe Sean my opinion 6 or 7 will win it 60secs on a wooden log

8 possibly. Hard pushed to do over 8 even for someone whos pressing is as strong as big z
