Well I'm easily impressed; so plenty of experience is a bit rich, but most have a comp or two under there belts.

This.

I'm aiming for a 270kg, quite looking forward to a 'max' event, think it'll get the camaraderie going a bit more, almost like a PL meet I suppose

130 kg novices pulling 270kg and over? Sounds like glory hunting to me

I'm 130, but a fat bas***d 130 and John's hoping for 270 at 90kg! I'm not entering novice because I expect an easy ride, I came middle of the pack at the last strength games comp there were some very strong, fast lads.

Think the whole beginner/novice thing is alright, it takes a lot of hard work to get into strongman even at novice level, The beginners category gives the average gym goer a chance to have a go

I'm going for triple bodyweight, 270 at 90. So not 130 glory hunting, sorry.

Deadlift is just one event. Ive done 1 novice conp finished 8th and pulled 270kg. Still a novice. There will be people who excel at different events but doesn't mean your not a novice. Even if you have done 20 comps you may not be strong enough to enter higher weighted comps

The farmers is 110 for 20, again a speed and distance I'm comfortable with, however the axle press is 85kg for reps. Something I'm weak at, max is only 100, and I've also only ever get the 120 stone up once before, and was with tacky! End of the day its at the descrestion of the organiser, and I know chris finds out info on lifts before someone is confirmed. And static lifts aren't always an indication of moving stuff. Going up to big boys next year tho for naturals under 90s. Only done 2 comps so i say I'd be a novice still.

300kg deadlifts at novice comps are getting abit too common for me, if you have a problem with John entering it then you're not going to like what you see at alot of novice comps lol

Haha agree with this. I'm definitely still a novice. Once I play in the britains next year I'll stay up with inters/under 90s for good

This. What makes someone a novice or a beginner is so ambiguous at the moment and will be until someone creates an official set of categories that everyone sticks to. For this competition I've just tried to use my best judgement in steering people to the right one; it's far from a perfect system and peeps will debate who did what and where but personally I find that half the fun of competing.
