I've decided to use my training journal somewhat differently. Rather than updating session by session (which I do on paper anyway), I'm going to put up a few targets I have and then update this post when it is done, with a video in a subsequent post.
Each target has a few intermediate steps. Some are well out of my reach for the present and actually go against what I am trying to do short term, for example getting fitter and pressing/squatting big weights. Who knows, I might get bored in a couple of weeks and do something else, but this it what seems important to me currently.

Good luck with the targets man. They're certainly ambitious, but if you aim for the stars, you might hit the top of the tree...

I don't think you'll be seeing it from me any time soon Wayne. Given that this is more than I can do for a single, I don't think it is in my immediate futureGrin I've done, I think, about 115 for 20 in the past. I'll be very happy geting up to say 140 or so for 20. I just wanted to put the top of the ladder very high and work up it gradually, if that makes sense, even if the top proves to be well beyond me. I like the idea of picking off a target one small step at a time and seeing where that takes me.

As I said, i might change my mind and head off in a nother direction-we'll see.

The running targets look fairly conservative compared to the weight ones! maybe I just say that because I'm naturally better at running than weights though.

Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing vidsHappy

Yes mate, they definitely are. I want to knock off the running ones fairly shortly for most of them, because I was in pretty good condition a few years back and it is a disgrace how little I run now really. When I've go them, I might think about adding in a tougher one (to replace the two hour run for example). The weights ones are more of a mountain. I might just stroll around the foothills rather than getting anywhere near the summit, but the journey should be fun.

It should be fun to see some video progress at least. any time I attempt one of the above (except maybe running), I'll video it. Enjoy!

nice goals.

There aren't many 10 minute 3k'ers who can squat 200 for 20.

Sod that, there aren't many 10 minute 3k'ers who can squat 140 for 20!

I haven't done eitherHappy I've not been a million miles away though, and I think doing something like 140 for 20 and a 12 minute three k is within reach. anyway, we'll see. If I never make it even to this level, I'll still be further along the right direction compared to now.

I presume the running will be done on a track rather than a treadmill?

Yes it will. I can't stand running on treadmills. I used to enjoy digging in when running and I'd like to get that feeling back. I was never particularly fast, but I got a lot out of pushing myself on a track and I'm curious as to whether I can rediscover what it felt like.

I managed it (just) about 20 years ago. Did a 58 ish 400m at 17. Would quite literally explode if I tried that now
